Title: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
Post by: Bloodworth on September 18, 2003, 09:47:17 PM
I'm hoping someone else is playing this game, but I've got a question to start us off.
There are a couple of items (types of items really) that I have no idea what to do with. There are these bags of things. Different bags, but one is like copper shards or something. Then there are these acorn looking things that seem to be even less useful. I can't use them, so do I just sell them or what? If anyone knows, please reply.

you use them to create weapons

I am also playin Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. I'm guessing that the acorn things are seeds. The description says "A nice gift for your family." So you should probably send them to your family. And If your wondering how to do that, you need to beat a boss.

if my family trait is blacksmith what is the best thing to send to them. I keep sending seeds because the item says it is a perfect gift for them.

Well... the explanation on the item seems to be generic... when I played, I sent items that would mostly apply to the occupation of my family... so, as for blacksmiths, perhaps you're better out sending things like iron and stuff... you'll make them happy that way and they might make you weapons with the items given...

my friend kept sending his blacksmith familiy mythrils (once they became abundent) and they eventually sent him a template for a "Legend" class weapon ( equal to the best weapons in the game, but insanely hard to make) hope that helps.
Bloodworth: the little bags are *all* used for crafting in one way or another, if your still using the japanese version of the game, ic ould see how that would be confusing, considering they get as random as "needle" or "ancient potion" the little nut things are seeds, if you give htem to your family, at the start of the next year talk to a family member and they will ilterally shower the ground with whatever the seeds grew into.. same thing if you buy your family a cow (possible in the fields of fum), loads of milk will pop out of someone the next year.

Heh, notice the date on my question? I never did understand the seeds though, so that's nice to hear -- not particularly helpful since I rarely used food, but nice to know.

yeah, we mainly usef the huge amount of food/milk as just a joke, considering that later on, the families would start dropping around 20 of EACH in quick succession, we made it a quest to see who could grab the most. pointless, but more entertaning than it should be. oh, and cows are cool.. moo.

One question. I'm on the 4th year and i was curious about how many years there are? Anyone Know? Or at least what is the furthest anyone has been on.

I think the years just keep going. It encourages you to keep going back to old stages, so there may not be a limit.

so how do u beat the game then? Or are u just saying i can level up as much as i want before fighting the boss? Well just how far am i, if im only in my 4th year?
Side Note: Been Playin this game single player, but i will be playing multi very soon, my friend is now thinking of getting a cube too, lol. Yay!

Well, the thing is the year you're on doesn't really matter. You could be doing the same stages over and over again, and it actually may be possible to beat the game without going to every stage, but I'm not sure. It should take you a minimum of five years to get through every stage though.

I need help with the boss in Mount Vellenge? I have 3 people and our strength is below 60 so is our defense and magic?I really need help i this one I tried everything and nothing is working. Maybe the pros at planetgamecube could help me out?

There is no end to the years. You have to find the source of the miasma and destroy it to end the game. (I'm on year 15 and my friend and I are working on getting the best armors, and weapons in the game.)
The mount is the end of the game there are three bosses in a row you will have to fight to win. The first is the metor parasite where you are to use magic that is opisite to the on the tentcles are using. (You have to atack the tenticles.)
The next is Rhem and I haven't got through him yet.

im on year 12 on my file, and we haven't even tried to reach mount vellenge yet, even though im sure we could easily beat it. i don't see any end to the years at all, but im kinda dissapointed the character models didn't change to reflect that they should have grown up in the past 12 years or so. no matter, at least that selkie chick is no longer only 5 O_o

End boss strategies The trick with all three bosses is just a matter of artful dodging, so I can't really explain my techniques perfectly. Also note that since I did single-player, trying to pull off some of this as a group might not be so easy.
I will say though that with the first boss I'd always take out one of the sunflowers before attacking. It's second form, I would keep moving until it attacked, and then I'd counterattack. It's third form, I did practically the same thing, but I kept to the far left of the screen.
On the second boss, I take out only the larger of the regular enemies, and then I taunt the second one into attacking so that it stops momentarily and I can attack the boss. I alternate between dodging the little punk, going in for a couple hits, and then backing out before the boss shoves his belly in my face.
On the third, I keep moving and avoiding its attacks until I get a chance to cast cure and recover the spells from the floating family members. Then since the spells are unnamed (at least they were only marked "???" in the Japanese version) once I gathered a few, I would find shots to try them out on the boss until I ran across the shield. Since the shield protects you entirely, you can whack at the bottom portion with your weapons, saving your big spells for when the top portion comes down for a good beating.

I'm in my 3rd year and have been trying to get into the Goblin Wall dungeon...is there some secret I'm missing, because I can't seem to advance in it at all. Thanks.

Molobert, I got a little stuck in that level too. Do you know how to open those bone gates? If not you smash the skulls above the gate to open them. They basically all contain chests behind but one has a moogle house and another is a door to another part of the level. And if your screen is dark, you might miss a few places where you can go, so you might want to brighten it. Hope I helped ya!

Thanks for clossing down my topic over in the Gamecube discussion you jackass. Seriously Bloodworth, you could have at least answered my question, and then closed the topic. Where's the love in that man.
By your comments in the first post, you obviously KNEW you shouldn't have posted it there, and now you want to curse at me for enforcing the rules. This is your last warning. If you show blatant disregard for the rules or mods again, you can say goodbye. -Bloodworth
Anyway, I shall try again.
Where is the fifth element, and how do you get it?
Also, is there a way to progress through the green temple ( I forget it's proper name ) in single player mode. I can't seem to get through the gates. Please help.

First off Bloodsworth, let me say that I am sorry. I just thought that I should be able to ask about a Gamecube game in the Gamecube section. But upon further realization of the rules, I find that I was wrong and in violation of the agrement that I made. I will now try harder to follow the PlanetGamecube rules.
I hope you and your colleagues will forgive my error.
Also, I am sorry for cursing, but I did it more to be funny than to harm you.
I appologize with full rermorse.

You can get through that temple in single player just fine. There are a couple optional (I believe) puzzles that require some really tricky coordination with your moogle.
The fifth element is in Lynari Desert. I covered it a bit in my review, but basically you wander around the big section of desert casting various spells on rocks, cacti, and the like.

Alright, I wasn't banned for my appology.
**laughs till he ctries**
Just kidding Bloodsworth, you now we all love you.
But seriously, I kind of suspected as much about the desert, but every time I go their it doesn't work. I now have the full poem, so I should be able to find and do everything, but it just won't work. I have done the first thing, where you use thunder on the cactus, but for things like the three nearby stones "three stones will feel the winters kiss" and use blizzard on the stones, nothing changes. When I used thunder on the cactus it changed camera views like it went to a cutsene, thus making me think that I had done it right. I now know where, and how in general to find the fifth element, but I just can't seem to do the wright thing. What am I doing wrong? Please help!
Also, do you speak good enough Jappanese to understand the imported version, or have you now gone out and bought the new American version. Plus, one more question, does this site actually pay you guys? I mean you all do such great work, but does this site bring in enough money from advertisements to stay afloat? Inquiring minds won't to know.
Title: RE: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
Post by: Bloodworth on February 24, 2004, 05:34:07 AM
In-between the cactus and the stones, you have to go down the right wall and cast a spell on a rock formation. You have to go in order for it to work.
I don't have the US version yet. I used my Japanese skills somewhat, as well as a few import guides from GameFAQs etc.
The site does bring in enough to support itself, but it does not bring in enough for us to pay anybody, including senior staff.

Ow, no pay, you all are getting jipped.
But, can you or someone else please list in exact order, how to get the fifth element.
Sorry, but I am pretty incompotent in the desert stage.

It's the love for Nintendo that drives them to have a site like this and keep it going, or so I think lol. Maybe Bloodworth thinks different?...

Well, you've got to love the work too. I have naturally writing and administrative skills that cannot be stopped by lack of pay. Although I often wish I could just ditch the day-job. It's a good job and I'm good at it, but I'd rather be paid for doing this... anyways this is off-topic................

It's good to hear that you love your work, but can anyone please help, in full detail, how to find the fith element in the desert.

Guh, alright I'll tell you haha. You have to do these in order! *note: make sure you get the stones that the enemies drop, as they are needed to get the fifth element* #1 - Cast "thunder" on the biggest of the 2 cactai. #2 - Cast "gravity" on the tent. #3 - Cast "fire" on the rock sticking out on a cliff. #4 - Cast "blizzard" on the three rocks that are in a triangle, starting with the smallest. #5 - Cast "holy" on the flower that will appear after you've done the previous 4.(if you can't find it, go to where you begin the level, then walk up sticking to the left side and you will come to it)
Yup, hope that fixes your problems lol. On another note, after you get it, there's no need to change your chalice to anything else as the holy chalice will be able to take you through any miastream

I'm back again.
This time I am trying to get all the items for the legendary weapon.
I have got the plans, I have got a piece of orichalcum, I have got a piece of alloy, But where in the world lies the ancient potion?
Title: RE: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles

Ancient potion, that thing was a PAIN to get.. However, i won mine from a selection at the end of the "goblin wall" level, my friend got his after the Mushroom level. Keep beating those, try to get good scores, and it will show up.
The legend weapon was absolutely worth it for my lilty.

Ok this game still hasn't come out in the UK yet but i've pre-ordered it and I want to know one thing. WIth multiplayer do you have to have 4 people or can you play it with 2/3?

yes u can play 2-3 other ppl, but everyone needs a gba and gba/gcn cable. Trust me u will love the team play in this game it is so fun, sometimes hilarious when one of your friends dies in the begining of a level and he can't be brought back untill u get a life spell, which sometimes can take a long time in certain levels. So during those times u just laugh at them

MY question is, how do the combining of spells and physical attacks work exactly?
my friends and I are on our third year and we can't seem to create any of the advanced stuff 'cept on accident. For instance, we can create fira spells, but how firaga spells work I dont know. And what are the flashing dots underneath the spell name about?

I really don't know either, but, my bet is..*major spoilage* Earlier in the game, it mentioned how monsters were never born, they just appeared into thin air somewhere. I'm betting that city is where the monsters are "created" (through whatever means) and then once they are done being "Created" theyre spread throughout the world.

Japanese is one of the easy-hard languages. relitively simple grammar, but complex everywhere else. Not to mention with a game like CC, there's a good chance there's a lot of Kanji (Characters that you have to know by vision only, they don't nessicarrly stand for a sound.)
Also I have a few Q's
1. Blizzara vs Icestrike: Which one is more effective?(Ice strike is done by putting a weapon in your command list in single player, and fusing it with Blizzard. You can make it Boltstrike, Firestrike with the corrosponding element. ) How does the damage equate? Is it Weapon Damage+Element or simply a focus attack with an elemental alignment?
2. Small Spoiler! When playing multi-player and are reaching the last dungeon, does the HP of the final bosses go up? I've finally reached this area and I have some....small difficulties to say the least with Raem. Just wondering on the off chance I can get a bud to help out...
That's all I got for now.

Some questions about multiplayer...
1) Can you use the characters from your multiplayer game in the single player game? 2) Can people join the game at any time? 3) Does the Link Cable supply power to the GBA?
Title: RE: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
Post by: Bloodworth on March 10, 2004, 08:27:19 PM
1) Yes 2) As long as you aren't currently in a dungeon 3) No, that's what batteries are for. Get some good rechargeables if you have an old GBA.

I'm not sure if anyone knew this but i just accidentally found something out. If u are playing multiplayer and 2 ppl use fire u can make it not only fira, but firaga. At first i thought fire + fire = fira but i found that if both players lock on in one spot and one releases early and the second player releases say about 2-3 seconds later (the 1st player is stuck charging his spell rather than actually releasing the fire) and it will turn into firaga. It happend on accident but now we can do it with ease. If someone else already knew this then im a dumbass and if not then hooray for me!

You can do that with the other spells as well, it's just a matter of timing.
