Title: My custom GameCube
Post by: amishbob on September 09, 2003, 09:11:32 AM
Well, I had a real nice post a second ago, and tried to post it and lost all my info or somthing. Anyway, I did a little customizing to my GameCube. Forgive me if somthing like this has been posted before, but this is my first time to this board, or any GameCube board. I usually spend my time on www.xbox-scene.com. I just bought my GameCube about 4 days ago.
Well, here are the pics. Sorry they are so large. I was going to resize them, but I figure that you can see them better at this resolution.
Well, that is about it. It started with just wanting to replace the amber LED on top. Then after I did that and put it all back together, I decided I would dremel out the front little holes and put LEDs in there also. It took me two long nights of working on it after work with my free time. I was going to try and make it so that the LEDs on the front only came on when a controller was plugged in. The metal sheilding around each controller jack is the ground for the ports. The only problem is that it is always on even when the controller isn't plugged in. On the xbox you can use the metal around each controller port for this type of application. But not with the GameCube. I tried installing a wire inside the controller port so that when the controller was plugged in, it would come in contact with the metal on the outside of the controller tip. It was to much work, and I just settled with this.
Tell me what you all think.

That's pretty stylin. I was thinking about changing my power light to a purple color, but I just never got around to it ever, and I am always broke anyways.
At any rate, that's pretty neat.

Very slick. i was thinking of doing the same thing too, but i keep my Cube on all the time practically and the orange glow bothers me at night. There is a way to have the LEDs on only when a controller is plugged in. i saw it on a Japanese site months ago, but i can't find the URL. If i find my VOM before i move, i'll take my Cube apart and see what's what.
