Title: F-Zero GX Demo Times
Post by: lithy on August 11, 2003, 04:27:52 PM
Well I know EB is holding a time trial deal by me on the 17th.  They got the demo disc in today so I played and got my Mute City 3 lap time down to 1.12.375

Anybody else tried it yet?  I want to know what the competition is doing.

lithy, jew kneed two ficks ur gramer, mang.  Nice to see you've come back to the PGC forums, Mr. NeoGeo.

Unfortunately, with the offer to move into my college dorm early, I'll end up missing the tourney.  Anyway, for those who need more details, 16th is Time Trials.  I don't know what that's supposed to mean.  I doubt its a competition and just maybe a playtest day so people can get a hang of the controls and such.  Maybe they weren't supposed to demo the game until then.  And then on Sunday the 17th there'll be some sort of competition.  I'll need to have a chat with the EB people and find out the competition format and prizes.

Oh, okay.  new demo disc.  Has 1080 Avalanche, Rebel Strike, Viewtiful Joe, Soul Calibur 2, F-Zero GX, and Wallace and Grommit.

Don't know if times vary by location, but there was a professionally printed flyer on the big F-Zero standee that said Time Trials would be held Saturday and the competition would be on Sunday from noon to 4.  Prizes are a memory card (maybe with some custom F-Zero parts) and a hat with a zippered pocket to store it in for when you go to the arcade.  Didn't get any details about the competition format, though.

After continuous improvement over 4 or so tries, I clocked in at 1' 15" .795 before I left.  I improved after every play, so I'm sure that can be driven down further.   Hmm, is the lean analog?  That would take some getting used to.

Darn, only down to 1' 11" 825.  If I could consistently hit the boosts in the twist, I could surely shave some more off.
