Title: Switch Firmware 4.0.1 Released: Temporarily Removes Support For Official Gamecube Controller Adapter
Post by: Shaymin on October 25, 2017, 02:57:00 PM

But the extra stability is worth it. UPDATED

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/45729/switch-firmware-401-released-temporarily-removes-support-for-official-gamecube-controller-adapter

For the second time in a week, Nintendo has released new system software for the Switch.

Version 4.0.1's official reason involves a fix to HDMI connections on the system that were causing sound issues on some television models. However, the update also appeared to removed support for the official Nintendo GameCube controller adapter for Wii U that was stealthily added in 4.0. Re-detecting the controllers after the update will allow them to work.

Nintendo has still not officially commented on the adapter's addition in 4.0.

This story has been corrected.

Nintendo still knows how to dash hopes and dreams with the best of them.

A false alarm, as it turns out. If you re-detect after the update it'll start working, but it does break temporarily.

So my online complaining and calls to the company have been answered!

I never did figure out why my Switch would not generate sound from the TV randomly. It just fixed itself and I guess enough people had problems that Nintendo went in to see what was up.

You can already use Wii U Pro controllers. Just gotta buy this dongle on Amazon (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B074JZPS39/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1). Its only $20-30 and some like the one I linked to comes with a handy USB-C plug so you can use it in portable mode.

I'm glad they added this, my Joy-Cons ran out of juice during Super Mario Odyssey so I was able to switch to the GCN controller whilst they were recharging. The only downside was that without a minus button, I was unable to use the map.
