Title: Mario Party Star Rush v Mario Maker 3ds
Post by: Flimbo on December 10, 2016, 04:36:00 PM
My first post. Hope it's in the right section.
I was thinking of getting either Mario Maker 3ds or Mario Party Star Rush.

Has anyone got both and could you recommend one over the other. :D

Hi Flimbo! First, welcome to the forums! :)

I've only played Star Rush, and I enjoyed my time with it. Great for local multiplayer as only one person needs the game card while others can download the Mario Party Star Rush Party Guest app on the eShop to have access to the content of the player with the game card. The mini-games are fun, the new Toad Scramble mode is a lot of fun, requires actual strategy, and the boards are good deal of entertainment.

Meanwhile, Mario Maker 3DS is a bare-bones port of the Wii U game. Can't share levels online, can't search for levels online. The only real plus is the 100 pre-made levels with various challenges, but if the rumors are true, I would suspect those will show up in a Switch port, whereas I doubt Star Rush will show up on Nintendo's new system.

Thus, I'd go with Star Rush!
