Title: Resident Evil HELP!!!!

Hey everyone. I have been playin resident evil (the remade version for GCN) and I am just stuck. Where do you find this gold metal shaft that you combine the cylinder object with and then use to go down the elevator with? Does anyone have any clue where to find this GOLD METAL SHAFT?!?!? Please respond

it's inside the machine just to the side of the elevator. open the panel on the console, take out the shaft, combine it with the cylinder, place it back in the panel, and then push the buttons in the order that is listed on the side of the shaft. presto! the elevator works.
