It's got Dr. Mario. As a Dr. Mario Box this has HUGE appeal in my family. Also, I imagine I can have a work Dr. Mario Tournament.

I was totally going to get one... until looking to see what games I already own from that list on Virtual Console. It's still appealing and looks like a great piece of kit, but not sure I need another mini-console to play games I already own (sometimes more than once).
But it does look awesome, and I'd like to buy a couple of those great looking controllers.

Did Nintendo announce this just to steal the thunder from the return of the TG-16 virtual console? They are blood thirsty competitors.

I'm more in the market right now to get something that actually plays cartridges. That said, at $60 if those controllers play anything like the original ones do, it'll be hard to pass-up, even just as a box to put in my bedroom so my wife & I can play some NES before bed or something.

I bet they play identically to the originals. If you want to play actual cartridges, then any of the Retron or Retro Freak consoles should pique your interest.

But they have save states, so they don't play exactly like the originals. That'll help me finally beat DD.

I know it's probably still a big stretch for MyNintendo to give physical rewards but... maybe a coupon or mail in rebate for the price of an NES classic controller? That way we get a physical prize, it'd be free except we have to front the money, and Nintendo could reimburse us but absolutely avoid worries about shipping costs or inventory.

Honestly, the controller as a standalone reward would've been great. Even without the NES Mini. A cool version of a classic controller that can retail for $10 is the kinda thing you'd think they'd already be offering.

While I own most of these games on VC, I definitely will be buying one of these when it comes out. I do wish it could play cartridges, but I'm still happy with it. I watched the retro ad Nintendo put out for this, and it mentions that the games are in HD. Is this true? Because if so, that's even better. I loved how crisp the retro games looked in NES Remix, and would be excited if all the games look as good as they did in that compilation.
