Title: Dreamcast Pro's
Post by: HiTmaN on July 21, 2003, 06:14:59 PM
Alright tonight I have made my decision. Being owner of a PS2 and GC I had to get rid of my Dreamcast which was a HUGE mistake. The only way to get it back, is to trade in my ps2 with all the games to get enough cash to buy another Dreamcast. I'm not trading my GC because I must have Mario Kart and Mario Tennis. Anyway, I heard there is a way to play VCD's on your Dreamcast. How do you do this? Do you put a mod chip in it? Do you buy software? What exactly is a VCD? If anyone could provide me with a link to a site or explain how I can do this I would be extremely greatful. After I trade my PS2 I have to convince my parents to get me an Xbox which I have wanted forever....I can already hear the yelling "We took you to GameStop 100 times and you said you were positive you wanted the Gamestation!!! Now you want PlayBox?!?! I have to go aaaaallllllll out of my way for you!!!!!!!" Anyway thx for any info.

well, if you can avoid it, dont get rid of your PS2, getting rid of games/consoles is a MITAKE! as you have learnt with your dreamcast, i cant say this enough!

also, to play VCD's on dreamcast, you have to get a program, i forget what one, but you DL that, burn it to cd, and it acts as a boot disc for VCD's, which are Video CD's. you burn an MPEG to CD in a special way, (use nero or something, ive never done it) and you have got your self a nifty VCD, the quality usually isn't that stunning, and most movies (depending on length/quality) take atleast 2 Cds, they are good for Cartoon Series' and Anime.

Hitman, if you're going to sell/trade in your PS2 and games DO NOT use Gamestop. They rip you off horribly. My friend sold his PS2 on Ebay with 9 games for about $250, which is at least double what Gamestop would give you.

I dont want my ps2 though, its useless I cant stand it. It takes up so much room its loud, clunky, ugly and the only  game I like for it is Devil May Cry. I could sell it on ebay but I dont know if my parents would let me.

you might not want it now, but i would hang onto it. a game could come out for it that you must have, or you might discover a great PSX game which you also could play on your ps2, unless your absolutely sure, dont get rid of it!

Do not sell at gamestop. I took some old N64 and Gameboy Color games in there to sell and they offered $50 ish. This was with a Gameboy color, Monopoly 64, Super Mario 64, Zelda OOT, Pokemon Red,Yellow, and blue and some others.

Dont sell any systems, you may want them later.

I got a DC on ebay for $55 with 10 games. It is pretty cheap to pick up another one.
