Just curious about upcoming games for GC that will be online? Specifically F-Zero? (or will I be forced to challenge ppl at the arcade?)

A few things here: Although there was talk of doing LAN in F-Zero, I don't believe that ever included the arcade game. Secondly, since the arcade and GC games have different tracks, I think any option for doing so would have been limited anyways.

How could you challenge people between console and arcade versions? Its like waiting 20 seconds in the arcade version for some console guy to come along and hope to god he does. Plus, I dont think arcades would like to pay to put them online anyway...

Hmm ... people at this site have been quick to assume that MK will be online. It will have networking support, but as of yet no Online support. And Nintendo has been constantly saying that online games have no room in the market presently (and I am the only one who agrees - don't get into the arguement with me, please). I think that if they changed their stance they would advertise it and try to start selling modems NOW so that 3RD party companies would have a larger chance to start making online games in the next two years. So, sorry to get your hopes up, but I doubt there will be ANY online games for the big Cube, except for PSO 3. Have fun hoping, it's a great Phantasy world (couldn't help)

Yah there will be. Nintendo has to have a viable online strategy going into the next console war. Nintendo knows this and will have one implemented by Q1 2004 at the the latest. Mark my words...
Maaark them.

Network support == Internet support. 2 + 2 == 4. E == mC^2.
Even if it didn't, Nintendo is using Gamespy's technology to implement online support in Mario Kart. And yes, it's free. Nintendo doesn't believe in pay to play.

even if Mario Kart was just LAN play you can plug it into your computer's network and use a program to fool your gamecube into connecting to other gamecubes in other networks as long as you have the ip of that other network So theoretcially any lan game that comes out is online.
