Title: Gimme some games to play...
Post by: Soren on September 02, 2015, 07:17:15 PM
So I went ahead and bought Mario's Picross on the eShop because I've reached the point of diminishing returns with Pokemon Shuffle, which was my 15-minute time killer for when I had to step away to let the computer render.

I want some games to play. Games I can play in 15 minute bursts, close the lid and then come back to them later. Puzzle games are good, but any recommendation is fine.

Thank you.

If you like Picross you should try Tappingo on the eShop. It's somewhat similar, another touch-drive logic puzzle type game which you can get in and out of pretty quickly.

Pokemon Shuffle is casual baby trash, real men play Pokemon Link/Trozei, avoid the 3DS version, the one you're looking for is the DS version. From what I remember it's basically the dark souls of puzzle games.

Another pick up and play game is Puzzle and Dragons Z + Super Mario Bros. Edition, I don't actually own the game but I tried the demo and it was somewhat enjoyable planning and setting up combos. You can also find it for quite cheap I think.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I'll take them into consideration. I'm definitely enjoying Mario's Picross.

Puzzle Quest DSiware
Cheap and addicting and I still prefer it to other "match-3 with RPG elements" games like Pokeymans Shuffle and the demo for Puzzle+Dragons/Super Mario edition.

Any Fire Emblem or Advance Wars game is a great once since it is turn based. Take a turn or two and go back to what you were doing. I suspect any strategy RPG would be able to meet this criteria as well.

Advance Wars should especially work since there is little to no planning required before you start a match.

Luigi's Mansion 2.

I'm still stuck on the clock tower boss with his gauntlet of enemies. :(

I want to start my second playthrough of Awakening soon, I just need to hype myself up for it since I'm still going through all the spotpass levels the first time around. I haven't bought a physical cart yet, so I'm sticking mostly with eShop and digital purchases. I think I'm better off waiting for Shadow Dragon and the DS Advance Wars games to hit the Virtual Console instead of finding an affordable physical copy.

Mario's Picross is scratching that itch just fine right now, but I am interested in Alphabounce and Starship Defense.

I just started my second playthrough of Awakening and am enjoying it a bit more. I feel more free to experiment than I did the previous time.

I also vouch for Starship Defence. It is a great game, though some of the later levels are a beast to complete.
