What the real shame with it not being and Amiibo is that looking at it I'll bet its manufactured by the same people who make the Amiibos.

Had this been an Amiibo I might have gotten it, it would also have been my first Amiibo. I think that is the only way I would have been tempted by a figure. So I guess I will go digital. I haven't actually bought a physical game on 3DS in almost 2 years, even then it was just a really good deal on Star fox I couldn't pass up.
Still glad to see North America getting something, and I hope it pleases some fans.

If NoA aren't going to make Amiibo figures available to meet existing demand, is there any reason they should care about keeping people interested going forward? Why care about Amiibo when they have already shown limited interest in supporting the figures?

Not sure about fans, but scalpers should be pleased. Preorders sold out hours after they were first made available, of course in the middle of the working day for most people. :-\

Allegedly you can still place an order physically in stores for home delivery. I talked with a local store today and am going after work to reserve one. I'll report back my findings.

This is very kind of you, but I bought a Limited Edition Zelda 3DS XL from someone for $100. While it didn't have the actual system inside the box, there was a lot of ripped up paper inside-- limited edition Zelda 3DS XL ripped up paper, so while I came out on top, I don't have much money now.
