I'm not sure how it will do. It really depends on how far Nintendo and Capcom are willing to go in terms of marketing. If the game is just dumped in the market without much fanfare like of lot Nintendo games up to this point, it will probably sell at a moderately. Word of mouth would be it's only fuel. While word of mouth had a big influence in past generations, games that had to rely on it this generation have for the most part have sold from fair to poor. Actually, GTA3 maybe the only thing I've seen this generation that has defied that reality.

I'm hoping that Joe gets the star treament though. Impressions so far have painted it as an exceptional title. On top of that, it has an appealing, hip style that can certainly be tapped into for the pop culture appeal. It also helps that comic books and super heroes are cool again. They are so many good things going for the game, and so many ways in which the game can be promoted on, it will be a shame if it meets the same fate as other great titles this gen that had no hype or fanfare surrounding them.

There is hope though. Nintendo's has started doing some agressive advertising lately for games that are far off in the furture--an unsual act from Nintendo. I'm hoping it's sign that they are getting serious about marketing, which can only bode well for something as cool as Joe.

Advetising is not the only thng. Quality advertising is another thing they need to focus on. Some Mario and Animal Crossing commericals have almost made me puke out of disgust.

Another must is not to make Joe look like another kiddie game. They really need to show some of the kick-ass action that happens.

Its hanging on the the number four spot in the Japan daily charts with super glue. It should sell pretty decently if it keeps this up.

Sorry, the above links points to some Chinese gaming forums... But guess the pictures in it can tell the story.

And to think that EGM named it as one of the year's top 5 sleeper hits, cross your fingers and toes until it comes out for good luck and hope it sells well.

Possible SPOILER!!!

Thanks for the link alvinaloy, now we know there's a second playable character: Stylish Alastor, he looks like a samurai.

For those who thought the English sounded funny, it's because the original page is actually in Japanese. But Excite page converts the contents to English (as best as it could anyway).

Anyway, another possible ***SPOILER*** on another unlockable character. Again, it's from those Chinese forums.

Viewtiful Joe looks like a really good game, which is always a good thing. I havent heard one single negative comment about it, and i cant wait to see what all the fuss is about. 2D gaming needs to make a comeback and Viewtiful Joe is certainly a step in the right direction.
