Title: For **** sake Nintendo.
Post by: pokepal148 on October 03, 2014, 12:40:21 AM
If you are going to advertise getting a game at midnight on the eshop then...

MAKE SURE THE ESHOP FUCKING WORKS AT MIDNIGHT

Maybe they meant local Kyoto time and you're off by a day?

I was able to get in and buy it with only one error message, but the eShop was unbelievably slow. This was at 12:03.

And about a minute later you couldn't get in at all and it stayed that way for 2 hours and then suddenly returned to normal.

You're clearly not even close to devoted enough for Nintendo. If you were a real fan you wouldn't have waited so long to go on and buy it. If you're going to be that apathetic you don't deserve to have the game right now.

In fairness I did get caught up with something.

Real fans preordered the game months ago and were first in line, with the Day Zero patch already installed and playing the game by 12:02. :p

With that said, Nintendo really needs an eShop pre-order system where it downloads 99.9% of the game via SpotPass and that last .1% at midnight.

I don't know what you are complaining about. I was able to download the game just fine, using my phone's wifi hotspot to download it since my college doesn't allow 3DSs on the network.

...yes. Amidst all my complaining I still bought the game.

I don't know what you are complaining about. I was able to download the game just fine,
Almost immediately after midnight the eshop couldn't be accessed likely due to large numbers of people for 2 hours.

Yeah, having the ability to pre-load on PS4 now makes it hard to go back to only starting the download at midnight.

I didn't really have too many problems downloading the game just after midnight.  Took a handful of tries to get it started, but I was never booted out of the eshop.

You must have gotten in during that brief window before everything went to hell.

To be fair, I was already in the eShop by midnight.  I was actually a little surprised to find out people weren't getting in there.

A real fan stood in line at a real store and took home the game without having to **** with their  eshop bs anyways.

What I find funny about this is that it seems like something I would have found annoying when I was like 18.  But with work in the morning I would never bother to download a game at midnight because I wouldn't have the time to play it right away anyway.  By the time this situation became a thing that could happen I was too old to want to download a game the second its released.  I might as well wait until after work on release date.  Hell, it's pretty normal for me to wait a few days before buying a game when I don't have time to play it right away.  This would be unheard of for Gamecube era Ian.

Now isn't that a sign of maturity - not being able to play a new videogame the absolute second its released and not being bothered by that because you know you'll get to enjoy it eventually anyway.

No.  It's a sign of being old.

I was so tired at work on Friday. :(

My basic plan was to start the download and go to bed so it'd be ready in the morning.

2 hours later I decided my sleep schedule was fucked up enough already and pulled an all nighter unlocking stuff.

Yeah, I just unlocked all the characters Friday night.  Couldn't find time until then.  I know, I know.

I'm so old.

I guess this the thread to rant about Nintendo network.

As i am downloading 30Gb (two Bayonettas for good ol' me) worth of data, my internet keeps disconnecting (something with my ISP, that wasn't happenning before).

On Wii U if you get disconnected all downloads stop (it doesn't even start the next one in the queue, it all stops), and you have to resume them manually. I have to babysit my downloads because of it, checking how it goes every hour or so.

Fix that, OS guys. Pretty sure that even on 3DS it doesn't do that.

At least it's all in the background and i can still play other games and use browser to post here as it downloads.

I think it's a sign to not buy digitally if possible on Nintendo hardware. Plus, how can you not love the box arts that physical releases have? Then again, I'm an "old" fart. D:
