Title: I haven't been keeping up with the news lately....
Post by: Khushrenada on August 27, 2014, 09:32:47 PM
Now, I'm not a journalist so far be it for me to criticize the work of one who pretends to be but I think there might be an error in this piece and would like to get another opinion before making such a claim.
This is the picture this article from Air Herald (http://airherald.com/after-mario-kart-8s-success-super-smash-bros-4-is-set-to-push-the-wii-u-even-farther/7484/) is using for the upcoming Smash Bros game for Wii U:
Something seems off about that picture. I'm not sure what. I guess it is just a stock Smash Bros. photo I haven't seen before. Maybe the article will shed more light on it.

After the release of the Wii U, Nintendo’s latest gaming console, the company struggled to establish an audience among gamers. Nintendo was slow to populate the system’s library with “must-have” titles and failed to attract third-party developers. Nonetheless, with the recent releases of critically-acclaimed first-party titles such as The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario, and Mario Kart, Nintendo seems to have reversed its fortunes. Mario Kart 8 sold over ten million copies alone, doubling the Wii U sales for July 2014 compared to July of last year.
That must be the problem. I was too busy playing Zelda Wii U to keep up with the latest Smash Bros. news. That and buying extra copies of Mario Kart 8 to ensure more software was sold of it than actual hardware exists to play it.
What else have I been missing?

UncleBob probably has 3 million copies alone.

You also missed the Spy from Team Fortress in bottom of the pic, along with the Knight from Ghouls and Goblins or whatever that game was... unless they've both been announced and I don't remember it... along with Crash, Spyro and whoever that is in the upper left corner (from Zelda).
But even considering all that... it looks 100% legit and accurate.
were you asking because you were thinking of nominating the writer for a Pulitzer Prize? You have my full support. anything I can do to help.

you don't know who Geno is. That is a character from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars on SNES and you have clearly missed out on one of the prime gaming experiences that can be had.
If not for that error, I'd support you too. Oh well. There's always next year.

Damnit!!!
I knew I had seen the character, and I actually do have the game on the Wii VC, but I've never set aside any time to actually play it, even though I've always wanted too... :(
now I'm sad.

Well, someday you may actually play that game and then you'll be happy. Here's to brighter days! But not for the writer of this article. His shame and disgrace will be everlasting.
