Title: is club nintendo on the fritz?
Post by: mysticgohan on June 01, 2014, 11:16:37 AM
I say this when I went to log in, I'm shown no coins and 300 coins to gold. This makes no sense, I should have to June 30th before it resets I was going to get Mario Kart 8 and get platinum. Is this a site issue? Hate to lose out for the year.

The site is messed up, you probably aren't "really" signed in. It keeps happening to me too, been trying to get Pikmin 3 since Friday.

I lost 30 coins because I could not complete 3 surveys because it would not let me log in. Then Nintendo took it down for maintenance.

Got the same problem.  Logging out, then back in worked for me.

In fact, I had to keep logging in to register games today.  I was behind on my codes (still am), so I wanted to catch up.  I was having the same problems.  Got cut of mid-survey more than a few times and had to re-log in.  I got everything eventually though.

I also got a weird error that said my password was incorrect (kept saying that Friday and Saturday too even though it was not incorrect), but the error says something like "if ur sure that it's right just try again kthx lol bai."

Apparently, there's been a lot of traffic on the site.  Probably because of the MK8 promotion.

Does anyone know the amount of coins earned with the free game for mario Kart 8? I'm going to be 20 coins shy of platinum. Also does upgrading Zelda ALTTP give any coins?
Title: Re: is club nintendo on the fritz?

Upgrading Link to the Past gives you 10 (after a week). The least a free game gives you is (40 + 10 - Wii Party U). I'd say see if there's another game you can upgrade, or maybe pick up a couple of inexpensive eShop titles or another VC title.

You can check the coins and such on this spreadsheet:

At the very least the wii u has a large enough userbase to bring down club Nintendo.

Man , I just registered my MK8 and now I'm 300 coins from Platinum....

first year since ClubN started that I won't make it to Platinum status... and they will likely offer something awesome this year just rub the salt in the wound.

50 w/the post play, but that's just for Wii Party U. Zelda would be 60 and New Super Mario/Pikmin 3 are 70.

Guys, I need help! I got Mario Kart 8 today, I registered it, I chose Pikmin 3 as my free game. I didn't see the added coins, i'm 40 shy of platinum. When I go to earn coins, the window pops up asking me to chose a free game. I already have pikmin downloading. so what do I do? I really need the coins from the free game before the 30th xD. Help!!!!

Club Nintendo doesn't seem to be very good at handling high traffic, hiccups like these happen occasionally. Typically, they get corrected on their own in a day or two, so check back later and see if the coins got added. If they still have not after two days, email Nintendo.

The first two years were so awesome. I got a Mario hat and a figurine of Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, Bowser, and Toad. Then it got "meh, not worth the effort" with the holofoil-like playing cards and the Majora's Mask soundtrack. Sure, it was complete unlike the one I got from Nintendo Power a decade plus ago, but still...

I've never bothered with Club Nintendo even though I probably have over 200 games I could register with codes to do so. I think there were codes in the Gamecube games and onwards. I don't know why exactly. It seemed like a great thing when it was first announced. I guess I just never cared much for a lot of the rewards offered and I don't really feel like answering a bunch of surveys for them so I've just never bothered with the whole thing.

Interesting. Do you have any interest in sharing your codes? I could use a few for games that I bought used and they didn't have a code.

There are some GameCube and GBA games with codes, but none of them are worth any coins. They were used with MyNintendo, which is what Club Nintendo was before Club Nintendo. Some early Wii and DS games are also not worth any coins either.
Title: Re: is club nintendo on the fritz?

I can't imagine why you wouldn't take the time to register your games.  It takes very little time, the survey is short and while most of the rewards haven't been that great, some have been cool (I like the shirt) and if you don't want physical stuff, they've offered some good virtual console games as rewards.

I made platinum this year for the first time in a couple years, hopefully the platinum rewards this year will be more interesting than the past couple years.

care to share some codes so I can keep the streak alive?

I think I'm 220 coins shy of Platinum. so I need like 3-4 retail games.
anyone care to help a brotha out?

I just to platinum for by registering Paper Mario Sticker Star and doing two post-play surveys.

I lost a lot of coins to apathy this year.  I bought quite a few download titles and didn't do the registration surveys before they expired.

I just went through my Club Nintendo spreadsheet and crossreferenced it with my games to determine what I need to register on Day 1 again this year to get all the coins and keep my Day 1 Platinum streak alive. :D

Going to have a late night Monday night. :D

Wow.  From what you have registered/completed surveys for, you beat me by 270 coins.  Congrats. :D
I do have 740 coins worth of surveys sitting in my "To-Do" list and have roughly 25 other games still to register though.  I don't know how that stacks up against anyone else...

Stupid Club Nintendo won't give me coins for my arcade machines... ;)

I am now 130 pts away from Platinum.

Thanks to all those of you that donated codes to the cause. you will always be remembered. ;)

I am now 3 games (2xWiiU, 1x3DS) away from reaching todays goal.
I think I can make it with a little help.

So, as usual, the site is wonky on Day 1 and isn't showing any coins towards the new year's goal.  I suspect this'll be fixed shortly.  But, until then... as of July 1st, Pacific Time... Platinum, Day 1. :D

700 coins registered and surveys taken.

I did not make it.... I remained 130pts short.
Maybe this year I won't wait till the last second rally the points.
This year's prize better suck as much the last two years prizes.

I barely stumbled into the platinum finish line this year. I probably have enough to get gold for now.
Title: Re: is club nintendo on the fritz?

I had way more than necessary for Platinum. It turned over today, so I did like 17 surveys that I'd been saving, and I'm 75 points to Gold already.

I have like 1480 Coins and NOTHING to spend them on. :-(
Title: Re: is club nintendo on the fritz?

I just recieved (through anonymous donation) 110 points worth of codes....
I needed 130pts as of Monday.... this is very depressing. They meant to get it to me sooner, but was busy... :(

Oh well, that's just that much less I need for this year I guess. Thanks anyway anonymous donor.
It is still very much appreciated.

Had I gotten that on Monday, I probably would have used whatever credit is in my eShop acct to purchase something small that I've been putting off and crossed that platinum line.
But that's what I get for waiting till the last minute to manage my account.... or maybe it's Nintendo's fault for not releasing enough games that I felt compelled to purchase immediately and offering good enough prizes that encouraged me to get up to Platinum asap.

I hope this years prize sux just as much as the last 2 years [/h8n] ::crosses arms::

...

I liked it, although there were much better choices for which game could have been used.

Why put out an N64 soundtrack instead of one of the gorgeous orchestrated Wii/Wii U games that have been released in the past few years?  Why use Majora's Mask instead of something that has been released recently, so the soundtrack might actually work as marketing material?

I'd gladly welcome another soundtrack this year, although would hope for something like Mario Galaxy, Super Mario 3D World, a recent Donkey Kong game, or a more recent Zelda game.

As for the Amiibo "rumor", sounds awesome but there is no way it's true - especially for a custom Amiibo per platinum member. Too bad.

I know in one of the E3 threads, I mentioned it'd make a cool Club Nintendo prize.  I don't see it being a platinum-type prize - I see it being something that takes a lot of coins - like 1,200 or more.

I figured as much, even though like ejamer said I have seen similar comments made elsewhere. Nintendo May do a special amiibo figure for platinum, but would never be each person's personalized mii.

Hey, rumors have to start somewhere. Though it's not that plausible of a rumor for the Club Nintendo prize, as it's something that would require Nintendo to put in actual time and effort.

Earthbound is tempting, but I would actually pay money for it. I feel like I should pick a game like NES Remix. I wanted to try it, but if I don't like it, it's easier to justify if I get it for free.

Kind of weird that Nintendo is offering Kid Icarus on Wii U as a Platinum Reward at the same time Kid Icarus on 3DS is available as the monthly Club Nintendo download.

If you have a Deluxe, you can use Game and Wario to get close to a DDP code.
Title: Re: is club nintendo on the fritz?

So sad they didn't offer an orchestrated soundtrack.
Deep down, I didn't really expect that to be offered though. It would have made sense economically (cheap to produce and ship) and would have been a high quality reward. Clearly too much to ask.  ;)

The games being offered seem ok for anyone who doesn't buy many games. Kind of weird situation though: the assumption is that if you hit platinum it's because you buy a lot of games, and if you buy a lot of games then you probably already own everything (or close to it) that you want from that list.

I'm happy to get NES Remix for free though. Was curious about that game but not enough to pay for it.
Title: Re: is club nintendo on the fritz?
Post by: Soren on July 16, 2014, 11:28:40 AM

I'll most likely get NES Remix. Free is definitely better than 15 dollars, and now if I decide to get NES Remix 2 which is better game I can actually play all the modes. Game and Wario sounds interesting but it's still a party game (and a mediocre one compared to others in the system) and I already have Earthbound.

It's Nintendo's version of Crossbuy.

And the 3DS one is the 3D Classic version, right? If you're going to play that game that's absolutely the version you want to go with, which makes giving the Wii U one away even worse.

These are clearly games that Nintendo believes have sold most of the copies they were ever going to sell, minimizing any perceived loss from giving them away.
