Well if you already have XBOX you should buy GC(IMO) because it has more different kind of games, gives some change. Unless your RPG fan then PS2 is the console for you.

But nothing beats nintendos first party tittles.(again IMO)

i only have GC and its and excellent console.(i sold the PS2, had to make the choise between the 2)

Well, you've got an Xbox, so you're already set for sports games. I assume we'll hear of a new Donkey Kong game on GC in the near future, and well, yeah, Monkey Ball looks like it's not going to leave its GC home anytime soon.

You could invest in the new Game Boy Player for the GC, and that'll open up a whole load of games to play. Donkey Kong Country is now on GBA, you may be interested in that.

Yes, get the new GameCube/Game Boy Player pack.  It's like two game systems in one.  You won't be sorry, I promise you.

Gamecube: Half the size of a PS2, and twice as powerful.

Rick is right, the bundle is ideal. Especially if your parents liked DKC. They can get the GBA version now.

I whould get the two also. Not only do you get the 200+ games for the Gamecube, but you can also play the thousands of games that have been released for the Gameboy. I currently you can get the player free or if you choose get a game then get one for the price of a game.

Get a Cube!  This is a no-brainer.  If you already have an X-box, a fine system, then buying a Ps2 would be like getting more of the same thing, only with longer load times and worse graphics. LOL

Seriously, GameCube is truly unique.  I own all four Next Gen systems and I play my GC the most. (followed closely by the Dreamcast, the X-box, and the Ps2, which seems to gather a lot of dust.)

Zelda, Metroid, Mario, Pikmin, Resident Evil, Super Monkey Ball, Super Smash Bros, Rouge Leader, Godzilla, Mario Kart, Viewtiful Joe, etc,etc,etc....

Seriously, you will not be disappointed.  Plus you may learn, like many other multi-system owners have, that the GaemCube is actually the best next gen system on the market

Good Luck

Gee everyone in a Gamecube forum is suggesting Gamecube.  What a shock.

I'm going to suggest Gamecube as well mainly because it's more different than the Xbox than the PS2 is.  The PS2 and Xbox have a fair bit of crossover in terms of third party titles and they tend to have a lot of similar types of games.  Of course maybe you want more of the same in which the PS2 is the way to go.  The Gamecube is probably the most unique of the three consoles so it makes a good second console for both PS2 and Xbox owners.  There are a lot of titles on the Cube that you won't find on the other consoles.

If you want a "second Xbox" or an RPG machine get the PS2.  If you want something more unique get a Cube.  The GB Player bundle is, like everyone said, a great choice unless you hate 2D games.

I'd suggest a cube; my personal favorite, and it's a big change from the xbox.  A very good change, a fresh one.  If you're looking for something a bit different, definitely go with the cube.

Well I have a Xbox and GC and its a good combo to have.
I have always been a Nintendo Supporter but the 1st party games are always the best out there.

I am an INSANE RPG FAN, and if I were you I would go with the PS2.

Let me break out the pros and cons of each systems....

Gamecube - small and affordable, yet still comes with free gamboy player/ no con in comparison of price

PS2 - comes with a built in DVD player/ bigger in comparison and more expensive

Gamecube - a different tone of games, innovative games, loads of great  first and second party games and more on the way/ barely any third party support, except from Capcom with RE and the capcom 5 or 4 or something, no sports and barely any racing games

PS2 - great third party games, great RPGs, especially RPGs, great racing games, sports games, all around a good system/ not that much different in comparison to an Xbox

Gamecube - has basically no online future but LAN is on the prow, and starts with mariokart, a guranteed(sp?) hit/ won't start until late this year or early next year (correct me if i'm wrong)

PS2 - has an online and LAN future, already has some great games out/ nothing as good as Halo though

Gamecube - GBA to GC connection/ insane hardware requirements when it comes to playing future games, so have alot of friends

PS2 - you can use a keyboard and mouse/ controllers are more convinient

Gamecube - more comfertable controller, as well as a wireless First Party controller/ wireless has no rumble, and controller doesn't work as well in FPS or fighting games in comparison to other consoles

Ps2 - great controller, can be used well with any genre/ not as comfertable as Nintendos controller (opinion)

I could of put more but I decided to end it there....decide which one you like better and go buy it. Your first mistake was trying to get an honest (non-fanboyish) reply on a GAMECUBE FORUM. I'm sure you've played both, but go play them again on a kiosk anyways or at your friends house just to make sure.

Unless there are some specific games you want, don't buy new hardware. As much as I love the Cube, I wouldn't recommend it unless you know of some games that you want to play on it. Many of the points people have expressed here are valid. The GB Player looks like an awesome deal now that it is thrown in free. There are also many games on the Cube that you won't find elsewhere. Animal Crossing and Pikmin immediately jump to mind.

Unless you are just dying to buy new hardware, save your money for new games. I own a PS2 and a Cube. The Cube gets 99% of the playing time. I use my PS2 more for watching DVDs than for games. For me, the PS2 was sort of a wasted purchase (at $300 no less). Don't be a me. =)

My friend bought a PS2 basically for FFX, and while he has found other good games for it (Sly Cooper and Parappa the Rapper), he usually goes for the Gamecube games.

Gamecube also has Sega with them (Super Monkey Ball, Sonic, plus stuff like F-Zero GX; many Dreamcast ports), though they often do stuff for the other two platforms, too.

Dang, BlkPaladin, you sound like a Nintendo Rep: "The Nintendo GameCube library [has grown] by 750 percent."  Gotta love it.
