I completely agree with this. DDR is one of the funnest, if not THE funnest party game to play with your close friends. Especially with the type of person who buys the gcn, I'm totally surprised they've done this. Almost all the people I know who have a gcn are crazy about ddr, and almost all the one's with Xbox are...not. Not to say they have bad taste, they just prefer a different type of game. Therefore, they really are catering to the wrong side of the market with this. If anything, there should be at least ONE version of DDR on each console.

Yup, that's pretty much it.

I don't think that a dancing game would sell very well on the Gamecube, bet it could work. Do dancing games even sell that well on the PS2?

DDR is one of the best selling titles for the PS2.

Replace PS2 with PSone, and insert "in Japan" after "DDR is one of the best selling titles" and you might be getting somewhere.
I fail to see the fun in the home versions. The whole point of DDR is attempt to show your "mad skillz" to the general public. Or in my case, do a little Irish jig whilst trying to complete a song and miss every step. Then roll around on the dance area and scream out stuff.
Where's the fun in doing it at home. Nobody can laugh at you there!

The point of the home versions is essentially just a free play version of the arcade mode to practice your skills on for the arcade version. DDR is truly not my kinda game (i prefer Samba de Amigo when it comes to music/dance games), but i agree that it would be a better fit for the Cube than the Xbox. It seems like Konami is testing the online waters with the Xbox, which may have been why they chose the Xbox. Online battles could be big, although i have to wonder why Konami didn't just do it on PS2.

I guess they're going to use MGS: TTS to judge that?

i don't feel like checking sources, but i do know that there will be at least some for of online ranking, and some tournament options. There maybe online versus play.
Since you can make your own patterns, it would be nice if you could play songs from the hard drive.

You would think a crazy dance game like DDR would be somthing that would fit Nintendo well. The best part is. The debate coach at Watertown Highschool in South Dakota... his name is Dorus Donus Roberts or somthing.... we call him DDR!! Great fun!

why ddr came out on the more popular playstation because it had a cd format thta supported stremaign audio....whic allowed them not to make it on n64..wel they did but yeah all cut up.... and then they didnt care that cube had a big media disk and just skipped us over again...its liek a tradition now.

As far as i can remember, Namco doesn't have a dance or even a music game. However, in the US, Namco arcades carry DDR machines, and there's a DDR locator on their arcade site. No need to bite the hand that feeds them i guess.
i'm thinking the established Live! (http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/puzzle/ddrxbox/preview_6027774.html) userbase had something to do with DDR being on Xbox.

Donkey kong country for GBA comes with a built in DDR game, which has 4songs and is quite hard which also I think uses the linkup surport for 2players
thats all i know cause of the leaked cart which was dumped, could be more songs before final releases

Why no dancing games?
Cause they're poncy and stpuid, and popular cause the people that play them are poncy and stupid.
