Title: Xbox One and external storage
Post by: tendoboy1984 on March 14, 2014, 01:22:42 PM
As we all know, the Xbox One doesn't allow users to easily replace the hard drive (without voiding the warranty). I really hope Microsoft allows us to backup game data to external storage, because that 500 GB internal hard drive will fill up quickly with game installs and downloads. Nintendo allows (requires) Wii U games to be stored on external hard drives, so it should be an easy feature for Microsoft to implement.

I thought this feature was added in a recent firmware update. If not, it is coming in the near future. I agree that it was a huge oversight to have plans for a potentially Digital-only console and have no support for external storage.

You deserve it if you were stupid enough to buy that thing.

External storage for Xbox One is coming in the future. Allowing game downloads to external storage should be easy. All they have to do is format the hard drive to the console, like what Nintendo does with the Wii U.
I love the Xbox One's interface, I love the new Kinect, I love using voice commands, I love the "Snap" feature for multitasking, but the lack of upgradable internal storage is a downer.
