Title: Introducing Super Pushing Adventure! (With Playable Demo)
Post by: Phil on March 05, 2014, 04:10:02 PM
Originally called Pushover (had to change it due to the name already being trademarked) Super Pushing Adventure has been in development off and on since spring of last year. I started it as my first game design project at college, and since then I've continued it in an independent study. Now, I'm just wanting to finish it for fun and to perhaps share it as a downloadable game on PC or (something I have no idea about) iPad or iPhone.

Join Trevor McMannis, a bird enthusiast who has received a tip that a rare, elusive species of bird is cooped up inside a mysterious cavern. What turns into a wish to find the species turns into a windfall, as the cave is chock full of the bird variety! Along the way through the cavern, Trevor meets up with a talking wolf named Rolf, who joins him as his guide.

The actual gameplay has Trevor venturing through floor after floor, each containing one bird for him to gather. There are 10 floors in the demo, and the full game has approximately 80, with each set of 10 floors being a different theme. The main element of Super Pushing Adventure is moving boulders either out of Trevor's path or into holes for safe crossing to reach each bird, thus completing the floor. However, there is more to Super Pushing Adventure than simply pushing boulders. New concepts such as locked doors that need a key pushed into them to open, nasty enemies like monkeys, crabs, and cars to avoid, ice that makes pushed boulders slide until they hit a solid object, switches that open locks, and much more!

The demo consists of the game's first series of ten floors.

I hope the demo is fun. Feel free to provide feedback.

Looks like fun, gonna give it a try a little later. I looked at the first one and was like "this is gonna be too easy" but then I scrolled down and changed my mind.

Uh, then every top-down maze-like game is a Chip's Challenge clone...
I don't recall that game being based on pushing things. Could you tell me which levels did that?

I have to imagine it'd run pretty well in Wine.

Hey again all. I was just wondering if anyone was able to try out the demo, and if so, what you thought about it.

I also wanted to share a song from the game that I composed and had a friend recreate with better sounding synth:

Windows 8.1 doesn't like your EXE - any chance of removing the DirectPlay calls from it and recompiling? Microsoft suggests against installing DirectPlay (or any "legacy" components) because of performance and security issues.
