Title: Is anyone good with digital graphics?
Post by: Phil on February 24, 2014, 03:14:22 PM
Hey all. I've been working on a game for about a year and a half, off and on. It's a puzzle game called Pushers' Paradise: Avian Rescue. It involves you pushing boulders and other objects as you try to reach the goal of each floor.
I have a demo if anyone is interested.
Anyway, I'm needing two floor designs for two of my eight themed areas in the game. One is a magma floor as it is set in a volcano-like area, and the other is a rainbow road type theme. I can't use the floor designs I currently have if I want to publish my game, as they are not original works. Here's what they currently look like.
Would someone or some folks be able to create something similar to these?

I would ask The Perm.
PM him, I'm sure he'd be glad to help if he isn't too busy.

You're welcome.
No guarantees or anything, but I know he is into game design, and getting a credit in your game is something to add to his portfolio, so I figured he would be interested. 1st name that came to mind.

Unfortunately, I think that user is too busy or not interested. Haven't received a PM back. I've asked around multiple forums and real life friends, and nothing is coming from that yet. Must continue to be persistent!

Do you have any set dimensions in mind, or would like a big 1920x1080 image be good? I assume PNG is ok?

For the magma flooring, I can set it so is tiled and repeats, creating the full floor.
Obviously, that outer space flooring cannot be done that way.
The dimensions are 2048 x 1536, and yes, PNG is just fine.
Thanks so much for offering to help!

I used a YouTube tutorial...even if you can't use it, it still looks pretty awesome. 56K warning, it's 5.36MB.

Oh, wow! That looks terrific!
Did you create that wholly on your own? I mean, it doesn't resemble a work of someone else's?
It looks great in my game, so I'm hoping it's somewhat original. I'll take a screen grab of what the level looks like now.
Thanks so much! :)

I'm interested. I just don't have the internet. I check things every couple of days at a friends house. Send me a link to your demo, along with more details of what you want. This looks kinda like chips challenge and i think it was called Sokoban which are games i like. I make graphics in my spare time, and have been programming an android game.

Like I said, I used a YouTube tutorial, but it's not anything copyrighted or anything that anyone is demanding credit for (and I certainly don't either). It's not exactly the same as the tutorial either, though it is pretty similar.

Well, you did a wonderful job. Here's what it looks like in-game. (http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h8/SuperPhillip/2_zpsde062508.jpg)
Would you be able to create the other one?

Not exactly the same...I might try again later. Followed a couple different tutorials (Photoshop is amazing...I'm like 20 years too late to this party) and came up with this (sort of on my own I guess).

I did notice the other one seems way zoomed in - I don't know if that's intentional or if the background moves or something, but if you want smaller ones I can resize them to whatever you need.

The pic you posted has the background zoomed in way too far, it doesn't look right. the original background you posted is a tiled image that repeats over and over again.
I was just stating that it would look better if you either didn't zoom in on the pic, or make it much smaller and tile the image so that it repeats (if it can do it seemlessly)
