Title: What If Nintendo Bought Rare's IPs? What Developers Would Make the Games?
Post by: Kytim89 on December 30, 2013, 03:42:03 PM
In a hypothetical scenario Nintendo purchases Rare's IPs back from Microsoft. They immediately put new games in each of their new franchises to trusted developers in the industry. What developers would be best for each game? Lastly, this is a similar topic to Adrock's dormant IP revival thread topic.
Battletoads:
Developer: Wayforward Systems: 3DS and Wii U
Perfect Dark:
Developer: Retro Studios Systems: Wii U (new entry) 3DS (N64 3D)
Conker's Bad Fur Day Sequel:
Developer: Retro Studios Systems: Wii U

Jet Force Gemini
Developer: Platinum Games System: Wii U
Platinum Games have made the best 3rd person games this generation and just thinking about this is giving me a boner, but a really depressed boner because I know it'll never happen. Jet Force Gemini is the best game Rare made hands down and with a modern control scheme and maybe dropping the tribal collect-a-thon, it'd be a home run.

Who did Battalion Wars 2 on the Wii, Intelligent Systems? They should do the new Conker since the original multiplayer was a 3rd person shooter in a similar vein.
Let EAD Tokyo work on a new Banjo-Kazooie.
Also, take a break from Mario Kart and give us the best of them all: a new Diddy Kong Racing. Why in the world have we not gotten a sequel to that gem?

Just the thought of the game with RE4-style pointer controls is exciting.

I concur with some of those already stated.
Battletoads - Wayforward
Banjo-Kazooie - EAD Tokyo
and would suggest the following
Viva Piñata - Good-Feel
R.C. Pro-Am- Monster Games
Snake Rattle 'n' Roll - Q Games
Killer Instinct - ...

I would like Monster Games to make a new Blast Corps. That was a fun and delightfully challenging game.

Eurocom went bankrupt and is no longer in business.

The Bond lisence no longer belongs to Rare either, and the Wii is dead. Unless you're joking about the 2010 thing from actvision

Not the funhouse so I'm sure you can trust every post to be serious.
I personally think this would have been a better scenario.
Franchise: GoldenEye
Developer: EA Los Angeles or Danger Close Games
Systems: Gamecube
It would act as the successor to GoldenEye on the 64 and give Nintendo a first-person shooter to compete with Halo and could have helped in fighting the kiddie image it was branded with in the GC years.
Instead, we'll just have to use our imaginations for such a grand dream.

Banjo-Kazooie: Tokyo EAD-1 (or Tokyo EAD-2 if Tokyo EAD-1 is overloaded)
Conker: Retro
Perfect Dark: Retro
Killer Instinct: Outsourced to Capcom

EAD Tokyo doesn't really make sense for Banjo Kazooie. They've established that they don't really want to make levels like the old N64 platformers with the more open design, and the ones they have done are probably the worst things they've made. I think the bee world is easily the worst part of Super Mario Galaxy, for instance.

Jet Force Gemini should be done by the Earth Defense Force Team. That is the only viable option in my opinion.
Speaking of which…Nintendo should just Money hat that series for Wii U. Talk about a perfect game for Wiipointer controls. And you can even have a special unit in the game that only uses the Wii U tablet and commands the other officers from afar.
