Title: Which to get
Post by: mysticgohan on September 05, 2013, 05:23:04 PM
I have Batman Origins Pre-ordered for Wii U, sadly to find it'll be lacking multiplayer. Anyway... Gamestop has the exclusive collectors edition of Zelda WW HD. Which should I get? I owned WW on GC, but the Collector figure might be enticing.

Mystic? What happened to your old account? Anyways, it only depends on whether you want the extras you get with the collectors edition. If you think the figure is worth the extra cost compared to a regular edition, then get it. If you don't think so and can live without having that extra, save the few bucks and get the regular. The only other benefit might be trying to sell the figure in the future on Ebay or something in which case you might recoup that extra money spent looking at it as a sort of longterm investment.

Given the choice between playing something new or something I've already experienced, I always choose the former.

Going with that and considering how derivative newest Batman game looks (still want to play it though), the right choice should really be Wonderful 101 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNefE89DZds).

I've been hearing good things about Arkham Origins from people who have played it at trade events. As for Wind Waker HD LE, it's a goddamn figure, and probably not a particularly well-made one at that. You will probably just be able to buy the figure off Ebay for $20 a day or 2 after it comes out if you really want it.

If you're more interested in playing Batman, get Batman. If you're more interested in Zelda, get Zelda.

Oh, I get it now. The question was whether to get Batman or Zelda. I thought he was asking whether he should get the regular release of WW or the Collectors edition of WW. Man, what happened to my reading comprehension there?

Well, then, to answer the real question, my opinion would be to stick with Batman. Having played through WW a few times, I'm in no rush to get another copy just for HD graphics. Maybe if it is cheap enough someday, I might grab a copy because it is still my favorite Zelda but I rarely buy the same game twice. Batman: AO is one of the top games on my want list so I'm a bit biased but I expect a top notch game from it.

Are you a collector who plans on owning both eventually, or a cost-conscious gamer?  I'd bet that Batman drops in price long before Zelda. The collectible figure would be neat to either keep or sell as a way to fund future purchases. Zelda will probably also hold better trade/resale value over time - a year from now Batman will almost certainly be $30 or less.

That said, if you just want a new game then Batman is clearly a better choice since you've already owned/played Zelda. Zelda might have some tweaks... but it's still basically the same game.  A lack of any multiplayer mode in Batman is unfortunate... but you won't be going online with Zelda either, so that's kind of a wash when deciding which game to get.

Get Batman from Steam for a song with all the DLC.
