I'll see what I can do, but no promises.    I might have to install the game later on, and rip the sprite directly from the game if I have to.

Murray is a really cool character though, and I think that in his case, an animated one would be MUCH better.  I searched the internet far and wide though, and found nary an animated picture.  I will install the game later on if I can find time, and se if I can rip the frames directly from the game.

wow thanks!
yeah i cant find any avatars for anything i want :\ i saw a REALLY cool Guybrush one ONCE, it was him from the spitting contest, but size limitations wouldn't make it acceptable, it did look awsome though

but Murray is an awsome characterl, and i feel my avatar isn't doing him justice

edit: well Infernal Monkey cleaned up mine so now its not a pixleated mess, but hey i wont turn down a funky animated one , now i just gotta get some cool Murray quotes for my sig..

Well, I don't know if you still want it or not, as the new one looks much better, but I did install the game and make you an avatar last night.  I took over 200 screenshots at 0.5 second intervals.    These are the 103, 104, 105, and 106 shots.    It's kind of crappy, but it is an animated Murray avatar.  (and it's under 5k)

get it here

Anyways, I really have to thank you for getting me to install the game.  It's been a while since I have played it, and I am having a great time.  Murray cracked me up as usual.

What, if I may ask, game are you talking about?

nitsujdark, Murry is from the Monkey Island series. Those hilarious point and click adventure games that gathered a massive following =D
Most recent MI game was Escape from Monkey Island on PC and PS2.

Thanks, I never played any of them though, obviously since I didn't know.  Is the PS2 one any good?

Yeah, it's a very faithful port of the PC version, which was awesome. It's pretty old now, so it'll be dirt cheap. Check it out!

its odd, Monkey Island 1 and 2 work, yet 3 doesn't cause it was built for windows 95/98 and so boohoo XP goes NO you cant play . and i dont want to play 4 untill ive played 3 again (ive finnished all 4 before (1 and 2 heaps of times) but ive only ever played 3 and 4 once and i forget most of it except murray )

You know, that's what I thought too when I tried to play it a while back.  The FMV would freeze the game every time I went to play.  But... it's working perfectly right now.  Must have been the service pack I went through great trouble to install.  MS kind of made it... difficult for people like me with the new service pack.  For the first time, I feel like it was actually worth the trouble to install the blasted thing.  I am trying to play through the game right now, and I am STUCK beyond reason right now, so I am giving it a breather.  I have never finished Monkey Island 2, 3, or 4 yet, as my save files always seemed to get lost somewhere, and I was having compatability problems with #3 a while back, and I wanted to play it before 4.

Anyways, I am glad that you like the avatar.

well i cant even get into the game for it to break :\ it seems to think that i need to install direct X 5... i have direct x 9, i tried the fix on the lucusarts site to no avail, it still does it its stinky, i should try now i have XP pro... or i should get the serivce pack (speaking of which how do i do that? )

Hmmm... it didn't even ask me to install DirectX 5, although I know Star Wars Episode I did that.  I have a bargain version though, so it might be pre-patched.

The service pack can be downloaded from Windows Update, IF you have the right stuff.  There's a better way of doing it though if you are in the same boat as me.  If you are, PM me, and I will help you out.  But I can't do anything more tonight, as the computer lab is closing, and I don't feel like walking all the way down the hill to the 24 hour one right now.

Bah, there's one upside of still using Windows ME, I guess. Everything runs!

*Gets some more script errors and freezing*

Oh well, nevermind

Is it worthwhile upgrading to XP? I got a cracked copy like, July last year, but I'm too lazy to format and crap
(Sorry to throw this thread way off topic PIAC )

If the PC ones don't work on XP then I will have to go with PS2 version as both my desktop and laptop run on XP.

Windows ME is the WORST operating system ever made.  Simply running it on your computer is a crime against humanity.  In spite of myself, I actually kind of like Windows XP.  It consumes a LOT of memory, but it's fast, it's stable, and it rarely crashes.  And just for the record:  ALL MONKEY ISLAND GAMES RUN ON WINDOWS XP  providing you have SP1 installed.  And besides, the PS2 version is Monkey Island 4, and it's Monkey Island 3 that had problems with Windows XP.  IMO, the game is a very PC style game, and a console cannot do it justice.  (Like the NES version of Maniac Mansion)

Go there for instruction on how to create a bootable Windows XP SP1 CD.  Mind you, if your serial starts with the letters FCKGX (or something like that), you will not be able to install Service Pack 1.  However, I have "heard" that there is a Windows XP CD Key Generator floating around on Kazaa that will be able to generate a valid Windows XP Corporate edition serial, that will not require product activation, and will work with Service Pack 1.

Heh.  I got to Blood Island the other day too.  I didn't actually explore the island though... I just kind of... stopped.  I got pre-occupied with other games.  I am currently buggering around with Freespace 2 rather than playing Monkey Island.  I should really get back to Monkey Island one of these days.

Anyways, if you don't want a bootable Windows XP SP1 CD (I did), then you can just change your CD Key via a CD Key changer, which can be found in a multitude of places.  Boom.  Done.

I'w played all Monkey Islands. Good stuff.

Although, I must say that I agree with the guy who left who made the serie or something, who said that Lucas Arts screwed up the serie after second one(he made the second one too btw) by letting Guybrush(awesome name, one of the best in any game, Guybrush Treepwood) and Elaine get married. He Also said Herman should have never gotten of the island, which I also agree. Damn you LucasArts! You better not mess up 5! And make more Point 'n Click games!
