Title: Game Boy Color TV Remote
Post by: UncleBob on July 07, 2013, 04:12:47 AM
So, GoNintendo had this article (http://www.gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=206526) up the other day...

Which, of course, meant that I had to get a copy of this game!  I just *love* neat uses of Nintendo hardware - and this is just genius!

My copy came in the mail today.  The game is pretty horrible, but, after digging out the Game Boy Color I picked up the other day (it was the easiest to get to), I programmed the system.  First, just to test it, I programmed volume up and down and the power button.  Worked like a charm!

Just now, I programmed it to work for my TV's built-in Netflix app.  Control pad moves up/down/left/right, B goes back, A selects.

Can't wait to mess with my wife's head on this one. ;)

Granted, it's not really the best discovery ever - but it is pretty cool.

Interesting how Nintendo keeps bringing back their old gimmicks for a second round: virtual boy -> 3DS, IR gameboy -> Wii U Gamepad

If memory serves the Gameboy Advance also had IR.  Can you try the game in that system?

The GBA doesn't have an IR port.  They did release an adapter, but, as far as I know, it never made it out of Japan.
