Title: Free Gameplay Movies from E3 2003
Post by: Jonnyboy117 on June 08, 2003, 08:01:24 AM
Better late than never, right? And of course, our movies are totally free. Now in MPEG format! Updated: New movies include Custom Robo, FF Tactics Advance, and Mario Golf.

Keep checking this page for more movies to be added!

After a lot of feedback, we're going with the MPEG format this time.  The files are pretty big, but they should work on practically any computer.  They're all totally free, so just click on the links to start downloading!

The last movies article seemed to have a problem associated with Talkback, so I'm hoping that posting a reply to the new one will help it stay healthy.  We'll see...

By the way, I would appreciate feedback on whether the links work correctly and how you like the MPEG format.  Thanks!

it doesn't work for me. I click it,nothing happens. I "right click/save as" it and it jumps from estimated time 2 minutes to 50hours. then about 5 minutes pass by and it stops, says it's done and all you have is like 3-11 seconds of video, which is mostly the gamecube/planetgamecube logo thingie. so...yeah...

I know exactly what you're talking about, and I'm going to see if we can fix that.  Also, the media server seems to be really slow right now, which we'll continue to work on.  I'm just glad to see the site consistently up.

Yeah... it is great seeing the site consistently up.  And drooling over the thought about what might be in those gameplay movies is also quite nice in its own way.  Maybe one day we will get to see them?

*sigh*.  At least the server is nice and fast again.  Any word on when the 404 errors on the media server is going to be fixed?    I still want to see the Mario and Luigi, and the Final Fantasy Tactics Advance trailers.

Ok, we've got a brand new media server which should be a fair bit speedier, not to mention solving that finicky truncated file problem.  Please test it out and let us know how it's working!

Yay!  I finally got to watch them.  Thanks PGC!

I just wanna say that Pokemon Channel looks completely retarded.

Now that that's out of the way, I want to comment on Rogue Leader.    I know that I have already seen that trailer elsewhere, but seeing it here again made me notice something.  Look carefully at the scene that shows the multiplayer Millenium Falcon TIE defense.  The top cannon shoots a TIE Fighter, and you see an explosion that looks right out of the movie.  That's totally awesome.  The Rogue Squadron games have always had excellent graphics, but they were always hindered by the fact that they do some things better than the movies, and some things not so good.  The explosion I saw is something that might not look so good, but enhances the realism of the game greatly.  I still think that they need to remove the dynamic lighting, to keep the game true to the movie's limited special effects, but I suppose that it can't really be helped.
