Which racing sim is your favorite? - Gran Turismo (PlayStation) - Forza (Xbox)

Gran Turismo for me, but only because my Logitech wheel doesn't work with the 360.

Mario Kart.

Either/or really. I've spent more time with Gran Turismo, and GT typically has awesome soundtracks, so that would be my choice.

Split/Second. It perfectly simulates a death race game show where contestants occasionally have the ability to drop buildings and jet aircraft on each other, as well as set off large-scale explosions. No other game simulates such racing carnage. :P:

I haven't played much of Forza. Is it exactly like Gran Turismo, with accurate driving physics and handling?
And agreed that GT has great soundtracks. I remember the soundtrack to GT1 fondly, and I'm loving GT5's jazzy soundtrack.

GT5 is very accurate, but honestly it does not feel like you're going anywhere near as fast as you are in the game. The speedometer will read like 135MPH and it looks like you're playing Mario Kart. The best way to play any racing sim is up close on a huge TV with a force feedback wheel. I have the 360 wheel...have only used it one or twice.
On a side note I have learned quite a bit of real driving skills (particularly fast driving skills) from playing Gran Turismo.

Well how does Forza compare to GT?

I hate realistic driving games...or any driving game that tries to actually simulate driving. I can do that on my own by really driving. Plus the controls for real driving games always suck...because you can not accurately simulate a wheel and pedals, unless you spend the extra money on a pretty expensive accessory...which again, I could be actually driving a real car.
And don't anyway say, but you can't be driving a race car in exotic locations, because you aren't doing that in the game either....and driving my Toyota Corolla is infinitely closer to driving a race car than the game. So, I would rather be playing Mario Kart, F-Zero, or the Burnout series that treats the world like a game.

I tend to agree with that. Burnout, NFS, Project Gotham are a lot more fun to play. PGR3 is probably my favorite racing game.

It's definitely an acquired taste. What I like about GT is racing on the real tracks like Nurburgring and Silverstone, and I'm a Nissan fan so the fact that they always have plenty of Nissans is a plus.
GT is heavily geared towards car nerds though, that's for darn sure. But at least they don't try to pretend like it's not.

Isn't Forza basically Microsoft's version of Gran Turismo (a sim that's geared towards car nerds)?
