Title: There will be no Spaceworld 2003.
Post by: BlkPaladin on June 04, 2003, 11:07:23 PM
Not totally unexpected. Since Nintendo last year basically said it was a waste of time and money. (And that it halted game development.) I think the press conferences they have to announcement major things are better.
The link is forth coming, its was reported by Gamespy.

I was hoping Spaceworld would be held in space...and Miyamoto saying the classic line: "Kyoto, we have a problem."

The next time I think Nintendo may have a Spaceworld is were they announce the succesor to the Gamecube and Gameboy Advance, there is really no need for it otherwise.

I still don't understand why Nintendo doesn't have a showing at the Tokyo Game show... Wrong audience? TGS has not much impact media-wise?

Traditionally Nintendo or Sony haven't really touched the TGS, that's because it has seen a down turn in interest, so much so that the organizers had to remove one of the shows.

Damn. I guess Mario 128 will shown off in some other way then. Ahem. Mario 128 will be shown this year, right? RIGHT?! Damn, Spaceworld would have been perfect to introduce Mario 128. Oh well, its not like its makes the games release date further away, so yay!

Is Mario 128 even a real game? Has it been announced yet? I havent heard anything about it except on these fourms.

Yep. It's real and official. I haven't a link to prove it though, so you can either hunt down news archives on IGN, Gamespot, Gamers.com, or PGC, or you can just take my word for it. Whichever works for you.

Damn. I thought it was a little early for everyone to be saying, "just wait until space world this year, it´s going to blow everything away!" Ah well, considering the Capcom 5 were announced out of nowhere, I think MP 2 as well, and SWRS: Rebel Strike, MKDD, MGS:TTS (god those are long names) were announced around but not at E3, maybe Nintendo is just announcing things when ever they feel like it. Which is cool with me, I like surprises.

Wasn't it only an assumption that there would be Spaceworld in the first place?

Yeah it was an asumption. And I tried to tell people not to get their hopes up for one because of what was said about the show when they canned it last year.

I'm somewhat disappointed. Spaceworld is when the Nintendo titles as well as big third-party titles get the attention they deserve from the press.

You can get just about the same thing from a press conference.

Trade show and press conferences are different. You cannot show multiple games at press conferences all at once nor decorate it in a fashion to build hype really. Also, trade shows build hype much more quicker. I noticed that about E3.

No Space World? But in sitting in a fairly small space at the moment, and it's in a world. Wait...
*Looks around room in the attempt of spotting Mario 128*
I see Esc, Car-tar-el and Pig Up, but no new GC games...
Drat.

If it hampers Ninty's game development, I think it is okay to stop spaceworld... and concentate more on E3 and the Tokeyo Game show.

I don't think that Nintendo is at the Tokoyo Game Show, its not covered in Nintendo Power and GamePro didn't report on Nintendo being there either.

It a Rare day when Nitnendo does anything for the TGS, but they are doing the European shows better lately.
