Title: Eathbound Confirmed for North American/European Release

During today's Nintendo Direct live stream, Satoru Iwata has confirmed that Earthbound will be released on the Wii U Virtual console later this year. In the direct, he mentioned that there were many posts in the Japanese Mother 2 Miiverse community from fans in North America and Europe, clamoring for the game's release.

No release date has been set for the game, but Iwata confirmed that it would be out "later this year".

Kowabunga says it all! Kowabunga!!!

The legends surrounding this game are too much to resist. Plus there series had some influence on One Piece, its a day one download for me!

This is easily much bigger news than ANOTHER 2D Zelda (I get fans love ALTTP, but a sequel is hardly exciting). I never played EarthBound as a kid, so I would love a chance to actually get to play it.
