Post by: emceeamg on April 09, 2013, 03:53:42 PM
Hi NWR crew.
Some good people at Bournemouth Uni in the UK are running a charity Zelda marathon right now to collect money for GamesAid. Please visit their site for a live stream and to DONATE!!!
if any mods could help promote this for me that would be great, i have no affiliation with the students, just think they are doing a great job!
ZeldaGamesAid 2013 We are a group of computer science and media production students from Bournemouth University (http://home.bournemouth.ac.uk/). We intend to play through several of The Legend of Zelda (http://www.zelda.com/) video game titles made by Nintendo (http://www.nintendo.com/) back to back while streaming the whole ordeal online to Twitch.tv (http://www.twitch.tv/minimike86). We invite all to come and once again watch us play and be crazy. If you are able to please consider contributing towards donations (https://www.justgiving.com/zeldagamesaid2) to raise money for our cause the UK video games industry charity GamesAid (http://www.zeldagamesaid.co.uk/#gamesaid_section). Our first 'Zelda' marathon (http://www.justgiving.com/zeldamarathon) started on the 11th of November 2011 and we managed to complete 12 titles in 212 hours including the latest game Skyward Sword (http://zelda.com/skywardsword/) which was the first live streaming in the world of content from the game. Many of our team members had never even played a Legend of Zelda games before agreeing to take part in the challenge. By the final day on the 20th of November we were all exhausted from sleep deprevation (http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/Insomnia/Pages/Introduction.aspx) and malnutrition (http://www.dominos.co.uk/) but had managed to raise a massive ONE THOUSAND, THREE HUNDRED AND TWELVE Pounds Sterling (£1312.00 GBP) as well as ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY SIX POUNDS AND SEVENTY FOUR PENCE (£166.74 GBP) via Gift Aid (http://www.zeldagamesaid.co.uk/about.php#gift_aid)! We even made it into our local paper the Bournemouth Echo (http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/9390449.Gamers_raise_funds_for_charity_with_Zelda_marathon/). Thank you to all those who donated and helped to spread the word!
