Resident Evil Revelations is playing host to a variety of new features for its HD makeover on the Wii U, including new Raid Mode characters, and interesting uses of the Miiverse.
The impossibly coifed Rachel escapes the shackles of the game's campaign to make her debut in Raid Mode, alongside series favourite Hunk. Raid Mode puts players in sections lifted from the campaign, and has them complete special tasks and fend off enemies with new attributes and perks.
Two new enemies make an appearance: the Wall Blister shows up in the campaign, while an unnamed beast will "harass you to no end in Raid Mode." The methods used to encounter the latter are being kept a secret at the moment.
The GamePad's touch screen will look familiar to Revelations veterans, as it bares a resemblance to the 3DS version of the game. The interface allows players to select weapons and items with simple taps of the screen. The game can also be played on the controller with Off-TV play.
Should players encounter the game over screen, they can vent their frustrations through the Miiverse, or share advice and tips. These messages appear in other players' game over screens should they meet the same fate.
The last addition is another Wii U exclusive named Creature Voice. Players can write messages that appear next to an enemy's healthbar in Raid Mode. The messages can range from helpful ("Shoot my arms!") to random trolling (REVELAITONS!!).
Resident Evil Revelations is scheduled to release on May 21 in North America, and March 24 in Europe.

Has Capcom confirmed split-screen multiplayer? That's a deal breaker for me since I can finally play Raid Mode with my brother. He doesn't have a 3DS and this is a cheaper alternative.
Pro Controller and Wii Remote support would be nice.
Yeah, I'm really not finding myself giving a damn about exclusive stuff in Raid mode, a mode I never played in the 3DS version and I'm not going to play in the console version.That's a shame. It's the best part of the game by far. I found the campaign to be mediocre.

Has Pro Controller support been confirmed? I assuming it's there, but wasn't sure. Otherwise hoping for split-screen Raid Mode seems kind of pointless since there is no way to get two control pads.
Agree that Raid Mode is an excellent addition and well worth playing, although I also found the campaign to be very enjoyable. Anyone who can make it to the true end of the Ghost Ship solo deserves some serious props... that final gauntlet was just too much for me.

[/size]This. 1000 times this. While I enjoyed the campaign and it's story (but loathe not being able to go back and play its levels individually to scan hand prints), nothing beats levelling up your character and then mowing down enemies that previously made your life a living hell.

Yes. It unlocks blocks of Raid Mode levels based on how far you've made it in the campaign.
As long as your level is high enough (like 45+), Ghost Ship is a cinch. Equip decent upgrades (like buffing the magnum) and it's all ammo management until the last section with the gauntlet of enemies. ...
A cinch? Beg to differ. It's easy enough until the final gauntlet, but I continually get my ass handed to me in that section.

Probably just a sign that I'm not good enough. I also don't have very strong weapons/perks available, maybe due to not really enjoying online play (I've heard that's where you get the best weapon/perk drops)?

Sigh... Challenge accepted. Going to have to dust off my copy and see if I can finish off Raid Mode properly.
I haven't been using the magnum enough, opting for a lower level Muramasa that has reasonably high raw damage and an almost full complement of perks including charge shot, ammo regen, and some damage boosts. Maybe using that as my main gun going through the stage and switching to a high powered magnum for the end game will help me push through.

I never bought this for 3DS because I've always considered Resident Evil games (with the possible exception of 4, which was...ok) to be pretty terrible. If I didn't like those games before RE 4, and don't have any particular fondness for those that came after, am I likely to enjoy Revelations?
The only reason I ask is because I keep hearing how great this game is, but I just don't see it. I could probably pick it up relatively cheaply, and wondered (given my ambivalence to the series) whether or not this particular instalment did anything exceptional which might make me enjoy it more than I have the previous games?

It offers nothing new and it's not as good as RE4 is collectively. Raid Mode is fun because it takes the best part of the game and cuts the fat (e.g. heavy backtracking, the rather pointless story, cutscenes). If you didn't particularly enjoy the gameplay from RE4 onward, Revelaitons won't change your mind.
