Title: Steam Box
Post by: TJ Spyke on March 12, 2013, 10:04:53 PM
On Spak's suggestion, maybe this can be the official thread for the Steam Box. Here is what we know about Xi3's version of Steam Box:

It's launching Holiday 2013.

There will be 3 configurations. One will be $999 and come with a 128GB SSD. The next will be $1,340 with a 256GB SSD. The final will be $1,750 with a 512GB SSD.

All three will come with 8GB of RAM and a 3.2 GHz Quad Core AMD A10 processor. Valve has said they have nothing to do with Xi3's version of Steam Box, which is codenamed "Piston".

Where are you getting that pricing info from?  I haven't even seen Valve put anything official out there.

As I mentioned in the post, this is not the official Valve one. It's from Xi3 (who were the first company announced to be making a licensed Steam Box). And the pricing was announced a few days ago and mentioned on many sites:

http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/09/pre-orders-open-for-xi3s-piston-pc-100-off-during-sxsw/

People who pre-order before Thursday can get $100 off.

If they make this box Linux, they need to port more of their Steam titles over first.
