Title: Nintendo Free Radio Episode 12: Summon Your Short Cat
Post by: Shaymin on February 10, 2013, 06:07:06 PM
For an extra $0.00 per episode, you too can have a podcast under 2 hours long (some exclusions may apply) Download (http://nintendofreeradio.podbean.com/mf/web/2abtpy/NFREpisode12.mp3) *Scene: A plain white room. Satoru Iwata enters*
Good evening, and welcome to this Chotto Nintendo Free Radio. This week, we would like to begin by apologizing for the absurd length of the previous episode, and can assure you that steps have been taken to ensure this never occurs again. Please look forward to it.
*bows*
In the New Business, games such as Rhythm Thief and the Emperor's Treasure, Crimson Shroud, MechWarrior Online, The Walking Dead, dmc and Zone of the Enders HD will be discussed. In addition, there will be discussion of the demos available on various eShops for Fire Emblem: Awakening and Sly Cooper: Thieves In Time.
The Whatcha Watchin' will feature such shows as Serial Experiments Lain, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Level E and Persona 4: The Animation. Also, there is a discussion of Canada's national winter sport: ice hockey.
The feature discussion in this episode is the recent Nintendo Direct I hosted. Among the points of discussion are the recent announcements for the WiiU Virtual Console, the remake of Wind Waker, and the trailer for our new game from Monolith Software.
*After the trailer, cut to Iwata holding a mushroom... and a grapefruit.*
Finally, the Mushrooms will discuss issues with customer service both good and bad, as well as our recent Pokemon Direct. We hope you enjoy the show and look forward to the end of the rhythm game combo very soon.

The horrible localization in the Zone of the Enders series

It's weird how you all said you enjoyed last ND greatly, but most of this podcast was bringing up all bad things about it.
About Iwata in Nintendo Directs.
I think it's amazing when CEO of the company himself speaks directly to you. Iwata hands on approach is very endearing. As to the manner of his speech -- seriously? Will it seriously kill you to wait for additional few minutes.
If you want to see Nintendo executive mangling non-native language here it is:
Second chapter in this video is Shibata trying to speak russian. I also checked german version of Shibata's first Nintendo Direct, but it was just subtitled.
About VC. Yeah, bundling in specifically fine tuned emulator for every game is very dumb. I just hope there is some versioning system in place, so that they could keep track what version of emulator goes with what game and if they don't have it, they should implement it stat. You don't even need programmer of Iwata's class, even i could probably do it given time and source files comparison tool.
Once you do that you can create all encompassing emulator that will work for all games. It's so stupid they haven't done it.

I didn't think I registered on liking the last ND overly much. I thought the second half was good but not spectacalur. It could have been much better with some rearranging.

Same here. I thought it was a "balanced" Nintendo Direct from the perspective that everyone had something for them in that broadcast. I still thought it was a lot of Iwata saying "hey, here are some game titles for you" and "hey, here are some games you already knew we were making!" I didn't altogether enjoy the Nintendo Direct until the "X" reveal at the end. I was just saying objectively that it was a good Nintendo Direct in terms of stuff they talked about.

Um, about 5 minutes into the podcast it re-started from the beginning (in the iTunes version anyways).

That is odd. I'll check it again.
TJ I just pulled it down fresh from iTunes and ran it through about 6 minutes. I didn't get the Restart. Can you give me some system specifics. I think that was some system hiccup but I like to be thorough.

You mean my system? It's the same one I always listen to. I checked again and it restarts at about 5:58. I just tried listening to it on my iPod Touch and it happens there too.
I have a Dell Inspiron N7010, Windows 7.

It seemed at times that you were all trying to outsnark each other. I felt like I was listening to an IGN podcast.

Man, I'm going to have to re-listen to this episode, because for the life of me I remember very little about the recording and said snarking. I'm blanking on the whole thing and I don't drink. :P:
