Title: I was awoken about 2am by the smoke alarm...

I hear the piercing beep and stumble out of bed. It's not my smoke alarm, it's coming from upstairs. I hear the upstairs neighbor thumping around. I go outside. Nobody has exited the building, I see no smoke or flames. I go back inside. after a few minutes the sound stops. A few minutes later it starts again. I go outside and smell smoke. I call 911 and head up the stairs and knock on the door. My neighbor, Delilah, answers. She is frazzled doesn't know where it's coming from. The smoke smell is strong coming from her door. The 911 dispatcher is sending help.
A few minutes later, not one, not two, not three, but SIX full size fire trucks show up, plus the a smaller quick response truck. I'm standing outside and direct the firemen upstairs. A few minutes later I hear one of their radios crackle, "chicken nuggets"
False alarm. The firemen file out of the building. I hear one mutter "I don't know how you put chicken nuggets in the microwave then forget about them..."
It's a foggy night in the Lilac City. I watch the firetruck lights disappear in the mist. ::)

The question I would have asked is that how bad of a cook your Neigbour is to burn chicken nuggets in a microwave. It's almost as bad as burning water.

That's the mystery I'm left with. My neighbor didn't seem drunk or stoned. It's an upper-scale apartment building so she isn't a crack head, just a nice young black woman. She acted like she truly didn't know what was causing the smoke when I talked to her at her door.

If by "cook", you mean "*******", by "chicken nuggets", you mean my "*******" and by "the microwave", you mean "her *******", then...

The theory is she put the nuggets in for five minutes or so but accidently hit zero one to many time and put them in for fifty minutes instead. Why she would forget this and go to bed and not hear the microwave is beyond me.

I could easily go to bed and not hear the microwave running. What kind of microwave do you have that makes so much noise?

Why would you go to bed so soon after putting nuggets in the microwave? That just doesn't make sense.

I have seen people so tired (or drunk) that they put something in the microwave and just zonk out. Usually it's not a problem tough since the food will cook and then just get cold. It's only a problem if you are an idiot and do something like set the microwave for 50 minutes instead of 5.

I have a microwave with a turn dial - this mess isn't happening to me any time soon.
