Title: Nintendo crossover
Post by: azeke on January 24, 2013, 12:45:54 AM
Nintendo started the trend of farming out their IPs to external developers for crossovers.
First it was Koei's Nobunaga Ambition x Pokemon, now it's Atlus' SMT x Fire Emblem.
And Iwata said there will be more.
Going with the trend that all the properties so far were SRPGs, it's probably gonna be that horrible Call Of Duty x Advance Wars proposal... Nah, all developers so far were japanese, that has to be either Capcom or Square Enix.

SSX X 1080 with Winter X Games integration. If it wasn't for the fact that EA hates Nintendo this would be a great idea. Sigh...

How about a Donkey Kong/Banjo Kazooie crossover? ;)
Mario RPG and Final Fantasy would be a cool mix or would have been five or six years ago when Square Enix wasn't a joke. Though one problem with this is that Final Fantasy lacks a consistent character. I guess this is really just a roundabout way to get a direct follow up to Super Mario RPG.
A general Nintendo/Kingdom Hearts style concept where there is some universal Nintendo world (and NO not Nintendo Land; something more like SSB) like the Disney world in KH would be cool. I would probably prefer Nintendo inter-company crossovers like some Zelda/Metroid hybrid where you teleport between a fantasy and sci-fi setting or just Mario and Donkey Kong teaming up since the gameplay is virtually identical.

as soon as I read that I thought of that cross-over. I don't know how you'd make it work in the same game but a scenario where Samus and Link switch places (Link in the power-suit! Samus in a tunic!?). I guess it really wouldn't work in a game, but if Nintendo ever let anyone make an animated movie, that's what my vote would be for. I just think it would be fun to see Samus try to get by in a more "primitive" setting, or link trying to figure out some giant mechanical space puzzle.

A platformer or RPG crossing Mario and Sonic would be cool.
Megaman would cross best with the Star Fox characters as far as character design goes but not gameplay wise. Though if Metroid wasn't so much more realistic I would say Megaman would cross best with it.
f-zero X Need for Speed? lol

Not that one please, Master Chief is overrated in the first place.
Dude has more depth than samus for one.
I don't particularly want a crossover series but I would like too see a few non Nintendo developers work on Nintendo properties.
Sawfly Studios (ex sony Liverpool) working on F-Zero.
Nazo no Murasame Jōy by Grasshopper Manufacture
A Star Fox Game by with the After Burner Climax team doing the Airwing sessions and Toshihiro Nagoshi doing the on foot stuff.
Similar to how Kid Icarus Uprising plays up the fact that its a Saturday morning cartoon the game would totally relish in the fact that its a tribute to low rent 1950s - 1960s sci-fi. The charvters and everything in the world would so obviously be puppets and a lot of horrible VOs.

[laughs] [loudly] OMG, poison the farmers while they sleep! That's so horrible! What would you do? Navigate the Pikmin army into the bed room, up the bed and down into the farmers mouth all the way to his belly? I suppose leaving at least 10 white Pikmin to corrode his insides.
It would be like this.

That's too complicated. I'd just throw them in the farmer's soup and watch with a mild sense of evil as my white pikmin drowned in chicken fat. Then I'd wait....and watch...as even the little children finish their last drop of soup. I'd then walk in with a hundred pikmin and start stealing their shoes. They would try and stop me but they become increasingly dizzy until they simply fall asleep. And then go back for the mom's underpants and leave it in the next neighbors mailbox as a warning of things to come.

My mind is blown with these expanding concepts. Evil Pikmin, ruining people's lives sounds AMAZING.

If we're allowed to bring TV shows into it, I propose some kind of crossover between Wario and Waluigi and Boardwalk Empire. Or maybe Hyrule could show up on Game of Thrones.

Star Fox x Mass Effect - Star Fox games really can't be all about the on-rails combat anymore, and previous Star Fox games have all sucked on land. Meanwhile, the Mass Effect games do ground combat well, but haven't really done anything else. Bring the two halves together, and you might actually have a decent combination. Plus, with how vast the Mass Effect Universe can be with all its alien races & cultures, it wouldn't be that out of place to have anthropomorphic foxes and toads running around with humans.
Of course, EA owns Bioware so that would never happen given EA's stance on Nintendo, but it's a nice dream.

Ah, VG Cats. Love it. I met Scott Ramsooooooooomir once. Nice guy. Quiet. He drew Leo as Mario holding a plunger, saying, "Ewww..." for me - which I have hanging above the loo.
Also, I hate Mass Effects ground combat. It's terrible. Star Fox x Mass Effect? Eck, no thanks.
