Title: Kickstarter - The Thread
Post by: EasyCure on November 17, 2012, 08:19:18 PM
I've only recently learned about Kickstarter after hearing it as some sort of buzzword for some time now. I recently came across something that I plan to pledge in (when I have a little extra cash available) but instead of starting a thread specifically for it, I figured I'd make a general thread where everyone can share other Kickstarter projects they'd like to promote. I'll be the first, naturally:

Beautiful Noise (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/872104423/beautiful-noise-music-documentary)

Quote
The definitive documentary about influential 80’s and 90’s guitar bands who harnessed massively loud sounds using a sea of effects pedals and delivered some of the most BEAUTIFUL NOISE ever recorded.
8 years in the making, with over 50 interviews, band members, music icons and tastemakers.

Anyone who knows me is aware music is a big part of my life so once I heard about this project I had to contribute. Again, I haven't as of yet but I will do my best to donate what I can before the deadline and I'm spreading the word to hopefully get this one off the ground. There are currently 27 days to go and very shy of the goal, but we'll see.

What other projects are NWR interested in? Share!

You gonna kick in $100 or more so you can get your name in the credits of the movie?

This Kickstarter is for a really deep and detailed 3D space combat and trading sim. It's really ambitious, but the guy seems really passionate about it and has what sounds like a good plan for what to do with the money.

For the first time, I am tempted by a kickstarter. Veronica Mars the movie! The video was cute and makes me want to see it.

Skullgirls? Pft, we're still waiting for the PC release. They can stuff their DLC characters.

Did you see they got a PC publisher and funding for more features for that? You can get a beta key from the kickstarter~

I'm gonna keep hitting F5 until it's live. Then, I will give them every penny.

The developers of Star Citizen, a game that between a very successful Kickstarter and continued support since then has brought in $49 million dollars, say they need more money. Now, what they're trying to do is very, very ambitious, but if you can't make a game with that kind of money you've got no business making games.
