UPDATE: Square Enix officially announced the iOS game which is set to release on iPhone and iPad on August 27. The game dubbed The World Ends with You: Solo Remix is a new version of the original DS game.
Square Enix is set to release a new version of The World Ends With You on iOS later this year.
The news comes from the listing of a new TWEWY soundtrack on Square Enix’s e-Shop, which included text mentioning the existence of a version of the game on the iOS platform before it was later removed. The original text also mentioned the inclusion of new music for the iOS version.
Square Enix has not officially announced an iOS version of the game, nor has it confirmed or denied the existence of a Nintendo 3DS version.
Before the leak, Square Enix stated that its TWEWY announcement would be revealed on August 27 at midnight in Japan, which is August 26, 11 a.m. ET in North America.
Nintendo's starting to become increasingly lame. I don't even know what iOS is..
99 cents in the iTunes store?
I'm just enjoying how the internet never seems to learn when it comes to buying into internet hype and the resulting disappointment. :P: :
Do many people really buy $30 Square Enix games on iPhone? That's like ten times the price of the average game. Not that I know of. Even Squeenix diehards would be averse to that price. I think $30 would be the highest price software they have put on iOS.

You're joking right? First, Nintendo has nothing to do with this. Second, iOS is mobile gaming. As much as I hate to admit it, it's kind of a big(ger) deal nowadays. Mobile gaming, since you didn't know Nintendo doesn't publish TWEWY or what iOS is, is gaming on a cell phone. Cell phones are these things you talk or text people on. Do I need to define what people are or are you good?
Technically you're right, but really, iOS is mobile gaming, and the rest of them are all hanging on. I'd like to see a breakdown of money spent on games on all the different platforms.
but really, iOS is mobile gaming
Apple doesn't have as deep pockets as Microsoft does. That was true a few years ago maybe.
Apple doesn't have as deep pockets as Microsoft does.
people don't really care what OS its running.

This isn't true.
Apple doesn't have as deep pockets as Microsoft does.
I guess you missed the recent news of Apple becoming the most valuable company ever (http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/business/2012/08/apple-aapl-becomes-historys-most-valuable-firm-on-iphone-5-rumors/). Microsoft's pockets aren't nearly as deep as Apple's.
This will probably be $17 for the completely unplayable (iPhone) version and $20 for the playable (iPad) version, because SquareEnix... well, let's just say that I'm going to get bleeped repeatedly tonight during a podcast recording.
What the Hell does this have to do with Nintendo? The story was originally about a possible TWEWY 2 announcement for a Nintendo system and was updated once the countdown was over. So it has nothing to do with Nintendo, now.
