Title: Episode 12: SEAL OF EXCITEMENT
Post by: Daan on May 30, 2012, 11:12:19 PM

The Famicrew gets excited about Wii U...and the 64DD Drive.

WE ARE EXCITE!!

Apologies if that Engrish startled you, but the Famicrew just can't help being excited about learning more about the most revolutionary Nintendo console ever, the Nintendo 64DD! Kidding, of course. That's only a small section of the episode. We have a whole segment of the show dedicated to the Wii U – what we're excited about potentially being unveiled and what we're most worried about being ignored at E3. We'd love it if you guys joined in the Talkback thread below and gave us your thoughts on that, too!

The rest of the episode goes from sad, (end of SpotPass TV) to happy (end of SpotPass TV). Then weird, (DS car navigation) to intriguing (Wii U controller leak). Talk about Bio Tetris, Doshin the Giant, Other M, Fire Emblem Awakening and Bloody Vampire - how could this all be on one podcast? Believe it people.

Listener mail and Life in Japan gets combined this episode. Listen in to find out the newest Internet meme, "Danny Bivens: The Umbrella Chronicles."

Countdown to E3 a go-go baby!

Haven't listened to the episode yet (although am excited to!) but wanted to note that there is only one thing I'm hoping to hear about from Nintendo at E3:  Fatal Frame.

The first game on Wii never came west, and the soon-to-be-released-in-Europe remake hasn't even been mentioned here in North America.  Too bad because this type of game is right up my alley.

Did the poor reception of the gimmicky 3DS spin-off sink chances of a real Fatal Frame game appearing on Nintendo's dying console here?  Did they have any intention of taking a chance on the series anyway?  Hopefully E3 will provide a happy answer...

One of the best Famicast episodes yet. Great work guys.

I'm in agreement with James and Danny that the tech purportedly being used for the Wii U controller touch screen is dissappointing. Given that  the Wii U is reported to be only marginally more powerful than the current Xbox and Playstation, you'd think that Nintendo would be spending relatively little on the actual console and would therefore be willing to splash out on the tablet controller.

I personally think that the 3DS touchscreen is pretty terrible, so should the Wii U tablet screen prove to be simply a larger version of that, it might be a deciding factor in whether or not I buy one. I'm personally getting kind of fed up of Nintendo's 'whithered technology' approach to hardware design and their preference to always utilise the cheapest and most widely available technology rather than the best. When I spend so much money on a system I'd like it to feel I'm getting something modern and top end, not something which uses old tech and feels outdated.

I've enjoyed my 3DS quite a bit but I definitely feel burned, largely because the build quality and touch screen are so bad. I don't intend on making the same mistake with the Wii U. E3 is going to be crucial.

I think the reason you have to add your county into the 3DS/Wii is for tax purposes.  I think certain counties in the US have additional tax on digital downloads.  Someone should verify this before they take my word on it.

Here in Tennessee they probably count as just sales in general and Sales tax here is a base State Tax and then the county/city tax.

I used to get annoyed by the County field on the Wii Shop Channel, but eventually I realized that I could leave it blank and still finish the transaction.

Can I rename this episode to "CRUSH OF DISAPPOINTMENT"?  :P:
