Aww, another one! The Phantom is supposed to do the same thing, the XBox is more or less a lower specced version of that and so on... How many PC-derivatives does one need? BTW, can't M$ bomb this thing? After all, they own WinDoS and they'll probably find some points in their EULA to blow this thing...

they could write their own OS for it then microsoft would have to either get them killed, buy them, or some other underhanded tactic to defeat them.
be interesting how this plays out actually

Heh, interesting. But the installation thing is odd. It does it as soon as you put the game in, without you seeing it happening? What happens when you remove the game? Does it uninstall? Or gather on the magic hard drive which will get to the point of bursting eventually?
And unless it's real cheap, there doesn't seem to be much point. Just buy a PC and use its video out on your TV
Nice to see they've gone with an original name.
"Team DIScovery channel!"

I'm sure that, like the other systems, you can go to a bootup screen to work with the harddrive and other system settings.

PIAC: Own system, eh? Remember, games use the API in a more complex way than other software, so emulation can cause quite some issues. And remember that Microsoft might have patented parts of their software. BTW, most EA games need IE6, I doubt you can fake that easily.

that was mostly my lack of knowledge speaking they could partner with nintendo for this, and package it in the NES console shell, and then huzzah!
this PConsole does have potential, im guessing alot of people out there not really interested in console gaming, yet wanting to play counter strike/quake3 etc like their cool friend down the street does, yet not having the monies to purchase a PC could look at this for a more afordable option

What i want to know is how they plan on deterring users upgrading their own devices. Why buy the $500 box when you can just get the $300 model and upgrade it? Same with the TiVO-style unit -- a lot of TiVO users upgrade their hard drives to get longer recording times. Sony hasn't taken action against it because users still have to subscribe to the TiVO service. And similarly, Xbox users who mod their systems lose the ability to play on Live.

That's a really bad stereotype.
