Title: Just Dance Confirmed for Wii U
Post by: NWR_Neal on May 16, 2012, 01:25:47 PM

It's not shocking, but hey, you'll be dancing with the Wii U Controller or something.

Just Dance is coming to Wii U in the near future, according to Ubisoft's 2012 Earnings Presentation.

The company actually expects Just Dance sales to dip this year, but the hope is that series expansion to Wii U and different geographical areas, such as Ubisoft's work with Nintendo in bringing the series to Wii in Japan, will bring sales back up.

The last Nintendo release in North America was last year's Just Dance 3. Just Dance 3 is being brought to Japan in July with help from Nintendo as Just Dance Wii 2.

Wii U is due out later this year. Just Dance on Wii U has no confirmed release date, but it could be included with the seven Wii U titles that Ubisoft is expecting to release by the end of March 2013.

Are they going to use the tablet?

Yes.  As a dancing mat.

I'm actually curious as to what this would do. I mean, they could just release a Wii U version that still predominantly used the Wii Remote.

This kind of lends more credence to the idea that Wii U might do some Kinect-like things. After all, how are the Avengers Kinect/Wii U game going to be similar?

I am willing to bet that Nintendo is making a camera/body sensor similar to Kinnect for Wii U.  That would be supremely awesome.

I really want to get a Wii U, but I college is coming up soon, and I'm not sure I'll be able to afford it.  I'll probably just get a 3DS to satisfy my gaming needs, for the next few years.

Does anyone know where I could buy a cheap second-hand 3DS (Not Ebay, that site hates me)

Depending on the quality of the Wii U tablet camera, they might be able to rig up something with that.

It's Nintendo. It'll be the cheapest camera money can buy.

I hope not, mainly because the stupid Kinect camera requires a huge space to work (about 6 feet from the camera).

If the tablets camera is used in ADDITION to the sensor bar maybe Nintendo will make the camera range adjustable in some way like the depth slider on the 3DS and you wont need that much distancd as you would kinetic

One of my ideas for Just Dance Wii U is probably a mode where two players are locked in a dance-off using Wii-motes while the tablet holder is mixing the tunes. Makes for interesting competition.

Maybe Activision is going to bring back DJ Hero and use the Wii U controller as a virtual turntable... *dreams happy thoughts*

But yea, that does sound like it could be cool. Man, any kind of music-based game where the Wii U screen could be used as a playlist selector would be awesome.

I don't see how that could work. The sensor bar doesn't actually sense anything, it's just a set of infrared LEDs that the camera in the Wii Remote picks up.
