Title: How do I connect Gamecube audio to an amplifier?
Post by: sparriskrigaren on May 15, 2003, 04:53:58 AM
Hello. I just bought a Gamecube. Maybe it matters, so I'll mention that I live in Sweden and I bought a japanese (NTSC) gamecube.

So, in the package was a cable for Audio and Video. I hooked it up on the back of the gamecube, and in the other end, there are 3 RCA contacts. One yellow (video), one red and one white (audio). These contacts are connected to a SCART contact, so I can plug it in my TV.

Here's the problem. I would like to connect only the yellow video-plug to the scart and put it in the TV, and the audio plugs into my stereo amplifier. But if I remove any of the audio cables from the scart contact, the picture disappears from the TV!

I don't have a line-out or whatever on the TV, so I guess it could be done if I bought some kind of different cable for the Gamecube.. ? Or what can I do? Is there anything I can do? My TV does not support S-video in.

Best regards,
Johan

You can use 2 "Y" adaptors (one female/in to 2 male/out). Have one end of the Y adaptor plugged in your TV and run an extension cable from the other end to your audio receiver.

Actually, I realized that like 2 hours ago and went to buy one :-) Now it works.

Thanks anyway!
