Title: What does 3D Land replace in your 3DS carrier?
Post by: leahsdad on November 17, 2011, 03:48:19 AM
Okay, I'm sure I'm not the only one in this boat.   I've got a Hori 3DS hardshell carrying case, which will fit 3 extra game carts as well as my 3DS (which, obviously holds 1 game) for a total of 4 retail games I can carry around.

Right now, I've got Ghost Recon Shadow Wars(32:35) in my 3DS, and the following 3 games in the case:

RE Mercenaries 3D (10:36)
DOA Dimensions (5:10)
Ridge Racer 3D (11:33)

And I just got Super Mario 3D Land in the mail today.

So, what do I take out?  And for that matter, what did 3D land replace in your carrier?

My 3DS game carrier holds 22 games, so while I've almost filled it I haven't had to make this decision yet, and won't for at least a couple weeks (but when I do it will definitely be Pro Evo 2011 because I only need one soccer game and FIFA 12 is one of the best games on the system).

In your case, I'd probably drop Ridge Racer. I own the game and enjoy it but Jonny Metts is right when he criticizes it for being repetitive. Though I haven't played DoA, so I'm not qualified to talk about that.

I don't have a 3DS yet (waiting for the revision with dual analog), so this question doesn't apply to me. But if I were to suggest the removal of a game, how about Resident Evil Mercenaries? I heard it only has one save slot and you can't delete it. A lot of people seem to hate the game for that reason.

Ridge Racer 3D.

I get an itch for a fighter randomly more then a racer.

I need to find a larger game carrier because my 3DS one only has 3 slots.  Though I mostly got the pack only for the car adapter which I've gotten plenty of use out of.  My DS game collection has grown out of whats currently holds it.  I here there is a type of folder insert that will hold DS games snug...

I haven't played any of those games, but from the looks of it Ridge Racer 3D is the most boring of them. Plus you've played it the most, so swap it out for a game you haven't played much.

Jeez, 22 games?  There must be some DS carts mixed in there, because I can't imagine you have 22 3DS games....I love my 3DS and all, but are there that many good games?  I've got 10, and I thought I had all the good ones.

I have to disagree with Mr. Metts, though.   I think Ridge Racer 3D is one of the best non-Mario Kart racing games in the last 2 years.   It is repetitive, but that's solely because of the length of the game.  And his other big criticism, that the road never gets crowded with cars, becomes irrelevant halfway through the Basic Grand Prix.  I just started the Advanced Prix, and the most difficult thing is getting past cars that are in front of you.

Oh, and alas, despite my defense of the game, Ridge Racer will have to go, simply because it was a toss up between this and DOA, and I think I'll still play DOA once in a while because of the throwdown challenges, which are fun but hard.  And I agree with Ceric, I get an itch to play fighting games once in a while.  Besides, in a few weeks I would have had to resign RR into my game shelf anyway, with Mario Kart coming out and all.

No, I don't have 22 3DS games. I only have 21.

My carry case is is actually an old palm polite sleeve.  No room for extra games (the 3DS has OoT in it AtM) or accessories but it serves it's purpose and it's all...sleek and stuffs.
