The other 2 racers need to be Dry Bones and Pacman like in the arcade game. Maybe even MegaMan. He could drive something like a LightCycle from tron.

No Dry Bones = Sad Neal

If you're gonna include an N64 battle stage, why pick the worst one?

I think one of the two other characters will be Waluigi, because it would be very strange to have Waluigi Pinball in the game but not Waluigi. For the second character, I have no idea, but my basic guess would be someone who has yet to appear playable in a Mario Kart game.

no block fort from n64? Seriously thats the best stage for battle mode. The n64 original not the crappy Wii remix

Block Fort was in Mario Kart DS, and I don't think they have reused retro tracks yet. Their choice was between Big Donut and Double Deck... and I actually thought Double Deck was pretty neat. It may have been a little large for Mario Kart 64's 4-player cap, but it would be perfect for 8 or 12 players.

Oh well, on the plus side, Double Deck is pretty much guaranteed to be in Mario Kart Wii U.

Fully agreed.  I would love a chance to try that level again with 8 players.  I never even got to try it with more than 2.

why limit the amount of levels? I hope block fort and double deck are unlockable.

I believe that the 2 characters they haven't revealed yet will be Dry Bones and Waluigi. Dry Bones is way awesome, and Waluigi is a staple for any Mario spin off. Not to mention there's a course with his name on it. I would think that this is a pretty safe assumption.

Mario Kart 7 should have ALL of the tracks and stages!

It doesn't matter who the other characters are. I must choose Daisy using Birthday Girl, whatever that is.

I can't wait until a Magikoopa/Kamek gets a role in MK. Thought for years he was a secret character in MK64.

The website says that the two unrevealed characters are newcomers to the series, so they are not Dry Bones and Waluigi.

I'm pretty sure that he was in an early version of the game, so you probably saw a screen shot of that.

So the game has 8 cups? That's pretty sweet.

You know I'd love for Mario Kart to copy Mario in terms of Worlds and have you go through an adventure mode. So you pick your player and go through Worlds, unlocking special additions to your kart and special items. At the end of each World you'd face off against a Boss. So if it's Metroid World, you'd face off against Samus.

I think that'd be really fun and open up the Mario Kart from simple Cup racer to Adventure racer like Diddy Kong Racing.

Like Diddy Kong Racing? I always wanted something else similar. Has any other racing game ever been done like that since?

Kinda....Burnout Paradise allowed you to drive around going from event to race to knockout rounds. But other than that, no.
