I got this as soon as I got out of work. It's a lot of fun. I'm hoping it isn't very short.

You know, you don't necessarily need one... It's DSiWare, so you can play it on a DSi if you have one.

I downloaded it.  Four times. :D

I thought I'd be awesome and play though the first level tonight, by myself.  Things went swimmingly, up until the final boss.  I was able to defeat the first form, but the second form?  I could manage to get two Links over there, but once I got the bloom to open, getting the right colors there to attack together was just flat impossible. :(

It was pretty awesome though, when I was using both hands and feet to attempt to get all four Links to pull backwards at the same time. :D

Ha, when I played that stage with NOA, we had problems coordinating against that boss... it's much easier in single player.

Oh well,  I could hear that conversation.

Honey I need you to take the role of my left and right foot for this boss battle.

It is short, and only a decent game as a single-player affair... but it's a wonderful multiplayer experience if you have any friends with a 3DS/DSi and the level structure varies (to some degree) depending on the number of players. Until you've played with friends, you haven't experienced the game as it's really meant to be.

All in all, there is very little to complain about here. Online play would be awesome... but getting a multiplayer classic that was ahead of it's time for free, and even having it updated with new content, is hard to be upset about.

The single player mode just feels sad. It's like being on a playground all by yourself.

You know, you should consider putting this on YouTube sometime.

Where is your Wife?

I'm fairly sure I met her parents and saw her.  Is she in hiding now?

In other news Nintendo gave me a new 3DS I found out when I opened it yesterday.  I didn't have to re-download anything though because it was all on my SD Card.  I just lost all my Activity Log, Streetpasses, and Miis.

Though I did play through part of this yesterday.  I the GCN one better so far.

Agree that the GameCube version of Four Swords was much better. It's just a bigger game and has more for players to do. But it was (is!) also more expensive and most people didn't have all of the equipment required to play. Of course, finding other people with DSi/3DS consosles isn't a cakewalk around these parts either... so maybe this game isn't any easier to play for most.

What got me was the first real level I got to I was literally just mowing the lawn to get to chests hoping they had a key...

The GameCube title is a better single-player or co-op game.

The Game Boy game is the superior cut-throat vs. title.

I almost cried.

Not really - but I unlocked the first two sets of retro levels tonight.  Obviously, the one based off of Link's Awakening was going to be awesome - but I seriously didn't expect it to be quite as awesome as it was.  Part of me wishes I had an Action Replay that would let me go around the artificial boundaries that lock you inside the Four Swords levels and visit the rest of the island.  Obviously, I know that's not possible... but...

Also, the New-to-Four-Swords Item is awesome.  At first, I thought it was just a statue, like an Easter egg... but then, I looked at it and realized it was on an item pedestal[/quote].  So awesome.

The retro levels were indeed awesome though admittedly less awesome because Mega Man 9 did the whole retro chic thing a couple years ago. I was most surprised by the Zelda 1 stage. I didn't know that was in the game.

The game actually got somewhat difficult towards the end with the bonus stages. I didn't really have a strategy in the second to last room of door 3 of The Hero's Trials. I just had a ton of rupees for continues though I somehow managed to only use 3 in that room. The reward was kind of pointless.

Four Swords Adventures on GCN was better. I can't really complain because I got Anniversary twice for free. Single player is pretty depressing though since there are parts that would have been much, much easier with at least one more player.

I'm still getting through the first set of levels and (1 to go) but, I still feel like a glorified lawn mower, with one of the lawns made of fire.

I found the fire bushes with live bombs hidden in them to be especially peculiar.
