no one who doesn't easily get upset really cares about it.
Some people just need thicker skin...

It should be reset to zero for everyone and it should be set so you can't applaud/smite any one person more than once in a 24 hour period to prevent it from being abused. There's no good reason why someone should be able to smite (or applaud) the same person over and over every hour throughout the day.
ETA: It should probably also be limited to like 10 smite/applaud actions total in a 24 hour period, but certainly no more than 1 on the same member.

No way. I like performing karma sutra on my fellow forumers' scores.

This.
Also, I'm not really inclined to make things easier for people who get upset about such stupid things.

Not to get Insanolord's wrath set on me, but I'm curious: if it's so pointless, why is it a forum feature to begin with. Seems to me if you don't want people to complain about it, just fraking get rid of it.

I've argued in the past, in one of the threads in here, that we should get rid of it. I wouldn't be opposed to it. But as much as I don't want people to complain about it, I also really don't want to make changes because of their stupid whining. That just encourages more stupid whining.

Wait...how does giving them want they want gets them to whine more? I'm sure if it was taken away, anyone who whines about it wouldn't do so anymore.
And like you said, no one else cares either way, so it's not like the feature would be missed.

I personally don't want it removed... but it needs to be fixed to prevent abuse. Smiting someone when you disagree with them is one thing, but smiting someone over and over and over and over again as often as you are able to just because you dislike or hate that person is what I have a problem with. My score is screwed forever because someone did that to me.

If we set a precedent by giving in and changing the site because people whined enough, then anytime somebody wants something to change they'll start whining about it, because they saw that it worked this time.
All you complainers are just lucky I don't have admin powers like Crimm, or I'd dock you 15 points every time you complain.

It was always been build as a trail feature. Even that being said not having any decay on it skews it from usefulness.

Post fixed. That's about all it is though... just a way to troll with people.

May I suggest a comedy option. The server randomly smites/applaud you with a random but realistic value for 48 hours before returning you to your previous state +/- real points. More you post, more likely it happens and it can stack.

I totally ignore the karma system now. Especially now that it tracks both pluses and minuses. Its such an arbitrary system it doesn't mean anything. It can stay or go for all I care.
Now, what would be interesting is a tracking of how many times you've been quoted.

Be an interesting feature to be able to go through the forum in one of those spiderweb type views of how people visited.

If the Karma system could be fixed (and I'm not really sure why there are several trash cans overflowing with tear soaked tissues over this) it should be made so that 1 person can only applaud/smite a single post once.... ever. Now they could go through the effort of smiting every single post you've ever made, but they can only do that once, so it would require a lot of effort on their part. And seeing how this score is useless to begin with, it really wouldn't be worth the effort unless you were trying to get Chozo someone all worked up over it just because they care too much about meaningless numbers.
otherwise WHO FUCKIN' CARES
