Title: Wii Play: Motion Featured 'Unique' Development Process
Post by: NWR_Neal on April 26, 2011, 01:04:51 PM

Outside developers took Nintendo-made experiments and made them into "promising prototype" games.

The development process for Wii Play: Motion, called Wii Remote Plus Variety in Japan, used multiple developers competitively creating the included games, according to Nintendo President Satoru Iwata in the company's recent Financial Results Briefing.

"The development process was very unique," Iwata said. "We collected some good ideas of utilizing Wii Remote Plus from [developers], we asked [developers] to complete a promising prototype game that we had created in-house in the experimental stage, and our in-house development team even helped with some development."

Wii Play: Motion will include 12 games when it is released. So far, none of the developers who worked on the title have been revealed, but Iwata did say that Nintendo is "going to disclose the development process of each distinctive game in the future."

The game is due out on June 13 in North America, the European release will happen at some time after June, and the Japanese release is set for July.

I was already gonna buy it*, this just makes it a little more likely that I will look forward to playing it too.

You're just justifying it to yourself.

The only thing I liked about the 1st WiiPlay was targets and Tanks.

I don't see how motion improves either of those games, so I'm not really looking forward to playing it and more looking forward to the included Black wiimote+

(Air hockey was cool too though)

I'm curious who worked on this. Will we see something different than a Mii centric game? Maybe a Dragon slaying mini game or something with a different style?

High chance of me picking this up seeing that I only have three remotes. Finally I will have enough controllers for New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

The news item states these are all NEW games that DOES in fact take advantage of MotionPlus.

I realize that and it's why I'm not really looking forward to playing it since I don't know what games there are. The only games I liked from the original were what I stated and I figured they wouldn't be on the new game since M+ wouldn't improve either of them.

Well, chances are they're made something new that you might like. I mean, you didn't know you liked those two games from the first one before you played them.

They're mini-games that my mom would love. I will play it, but I'm not really looking forward to it as some sort of anticipated event. I will probably be the one start teh game up for the first time and hand the remote. But there is nothing about this game that would make it a game I really look forward to playing.

Instant buy if it includes Wii Tank 2. (which it sounds like it won't)
