Title: Any chance of new titles?
Post by: Don'tHate742 on May 06, 2003, 12:06:10 PM
Old games revived are cool but they get old...
Mario Zelda Metriod Star Fox Fzero Mario Kart
With most of these games already out, I'm thinking there is a good chance for some new titles. I want a new adventure title ala Zelda, also I want Nintendo to give the RPG genre a try. Either that or a new FPS.
All in all, I enjoy old classics remade but I would rather see something new. Don't get me wrong ALL those games I mention are or will be the shiznick, but I'm left feeling I want something new.
Does anyone feel the same way I do?

Oh yeah one more thing...
Nintendo has handed many of there AAA series off to other folk to work on it, so I geuss my chances of seeing newer games from Nintendo has doubled or somthing.

Yeah, I totally want some new series on the GC, but, frankly, I can live, very happily at that, with the old formulas, because they work. Like the saying goes: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Well, we did get Pikmin recently. And Miyamoto-sama has claimed that this is the year for new franchises.

Matt at IGN said Miyamoto has something new that Matt just doesn't 'get'. He said its so off the wall, he doesnt see what Miyamoto is thinking. I wonder what it could be?

Well according to some sources(haha sorry I forgot where I heard this) EAD is working on a niche title. I would expect something incredibly innovative along the lines of Animal Crossing or Giftpia. This game is quite possibly that new franchise that Miyamoto was promising to show at E3. Only 2 weeks to go

I am thrilled with what they are doing with old franchises, hopefully we can see what miyamoto can really do! Seems like he has had a lot of good ideas lately, ala pikmin. He is proof that the best game makers are artists.

But we have to remember that not all things an artist makes appeels to everyone.

The old franchise characters work because they are just that -- old. They're known by the majority of the people in the United States, if not the world. You hear of a new Mario game and you are almost certain that it will be a good game, worthy of your greenbacks (unless you are a fanatical Nintendo loyalist, in which case you'll get the game before you see any pictures of it).
But new characters are always welcome -- if anything, new characters will incease the character roster in the next Super Smash Bros game!

To be honest, I thought Metroid Prime wasn't nearly as good as I was hearing everyone say. Sure, it's innovative, but it just wasn't my style of a game. Mario Sunshine was also a huge dissappointment. Star Fox was pretty good, but I didn't think highly enough of it to buy it. Pikmin was ok for the first 3 hours, then it just got way to repititave (sp). Overall, there is a lot more room left for Nintendo to impress me. All these games were pretty fun, but none of 'em really clicked with me. I would like for Nintendo to put some of their expertise into a racer. . . imagine it, Nintendo-quality graphics, gameplay, extreme detail, handling/physics. Oh well, guess I'll be left dreaming while everyone is worshipping Mario or something

Nathan, F-Zero. Even if not developed by Nintendo, they are certainly involved and people have said the game is fantastic from test plays of the arcade version.
This "Fear" and "Ground Zero" projects may be the new titles Nintendo are talking about besides Animal Crossing, Pikmin, and Giftpia.

And of course Mario Kart and Kirby's Air Ride, both developed by Nintendo or branches thereof.
I'd have to disagree with you, nathan. Metroid Prime was spectacular, Super Mario Sunshine delightful, and even Star Fox Adventures was pretty good (made by Rare, not Nintendo, but you know. . .). I myself would have to say that Nintendo has surpassed the competition and even their own past accomplishments. For me, anyhoo.

Two of Nintendo's new project's are called Fear and Ground Zero.
Fear is being developed by EAD and Miyamoto himself and Ground Zero is by "a second party or two"....probably Zoonami. Ground Zero will supposedly be the GCN's biggest game yet...Although I can't quite fathom something bigger than Wind Waker AND Metroid...

Yea, Metroid Prime was spectacular in itself, but I just can't get into any science fiction game. I'm not saying it wasn't good, it just wasn't good to me. I know plenty of people who love it, but I would take a realistic game over a sci-fi game any day. I can't find much to complain about---although playing for hour-upon-hour just to get a new weapon did get on my nerves. Mario Sunshine was good, too, but lacking any major action. I haven't played Wind Waker too much, and my allowance is going be going towards Enter the Matrix (Hey, taking a risk is always fun.)
