Title: River City Ransom Sequel Incoming

A sequel to the classic NES title will be appearing on an unspecified home console.

A sequel to the NES game River City Ransom has been announced to be released sometime in 2012 on the PC and an unspecified home console.

Miracle Kidz, who are also working on the recently announced WiiWare remake of Super Dodgeball, announced that members of the original development team will also be working in this new re-imagining of the series.

No other details about the game were given.

ive played a Japanese only river city ransom sequel that took place in feudal Japan, and it was kind of awesome.

The original was one of my all time favorites (I still have a chunk of a password lodged in my brain).  I didn't like the Gameboy version so I'm anticipating this one with low expectations, but I was pretty giddy to read the headline.  If this turns out to be another hoax I'm going to be pissed.

Since the game is confirmed to be coming to the PC that unspecified mystery console is probably the Xbox360. If you're making a game on the PC it doesn't take much effort to port it over to the 360. I would prefer if it came to the Wii though.

Well, Super Dodgeball is coming to Wii (it came to 360 first), so it's plausible that it's coming to both.
