Title: High Voltage Software is a Little Bit Country

The folks behind Conduit 2 are also working on Country Dance.

GameMill Entertainment has announced the full set list for their upcoming music game, Country Dance. The title is a dancing game akin to Ubisoft's Just Dance series, where players dance along to popular songs, this time of country variety.

Some of the recently unveiled songs include Miley Cyrus's "Hoedown Throwdown," Billy Ray Cyrus's "Achy Breaky," Darius Rucker's "Alright," and Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire." The development team behind the title is High Voltage Software, best known for producing The Conduit and its sequel for the Wii.

Country Dance will be released on April 5.

If they let you dance to Achy Breaky Song (http://lyrics.wikia.com/%22Weird_Al%22_Yankovic%3AAchy_Breaky_Song) I'd get it used, but the original = automatic do not want.

Looks like a way to cash in on some money while similar games (cough cough Just Dance 2 cough) are still popular.

It's "interest".
I don't know why "Heart" was left out, but that's what the press release said.

I've never laughed so hard in my life at a song than Achy Breaky Heart.

I had basketball practice and my coach, who was father of one of the players, picked me and a friend up at my friends house and was bumping this song and started singing along. Me and my boy just looked at each other and we couldn't stop laughing. We were laughing so hard that we were literally on rolling around on the floor in the back of his van laughing our asses off.

Now everytime someone mentions that song, that is immediately the moment I think of. Makes me chuckle a little on the inside everytime too.
Ahhh..... memories.

I almost forgot, Animales De La Muerte is still on. It is still a Wii hopeful, but definitely coming to XBLA/PSN.

I actually really enjoy the dance genre, from DDR to Just Dance... but how exactly do you dance to Ring of Fire?

I guess I don't know much about country, the only thing I can think of dancing to off the top of my head is 5, 6, 7, 8 from The Steps. T_T at that not being on this list... I like that song...

Like its been explained already, the press release writes it like that, so I decided to leave it like that just in case I was missing something.

sometimes these companies take these projects thinking it will be cash..and then its not. Their publisher is paying them upfront right? Are a good enough percentage of Wii owners even fans of country music? I'd imagine thats a pretty fragmented market.

Remember Conduit was their first original IP... they've been doing these other types of games for a long time.

Yeah, High Voltage Software is an independent development house, meaning they mostly do contract work to keep the lights running.

On that note, I'm a proud owner of their Harvey Birdman Wii game!

No, sorry, I don't have a 360. But I DO hear really good things about it, so I'm generally feeling positive on that tech and some of the games for it.

I originally thought it was a Phoenix Wright clone, but it's more of a lite point-and-click adventure game melded with the show's universe and characters. *shrug* "Recommended for Fans."

I actually didn't watch the show, but I came out curious about it after finishing the game. As a game, I say "lite" because sometimes I felt the point-and-click puzzle design, always wacky, was a little too linear or on-rails in comparison of some other examples of the genre. Another thing I remember is that in Phoenix Wright there would be a lot of interesting asides when you're examining ultimately useless items in the scene, but in Harvey Birdman, since all the stuff is actually voice-acted (a plus), they have less useless flavor text (a minus). It could be that the game had a very low budget, and/or the use of voice-acting restricted their ability to make non-linear paths through the adventure.

Funny how things go.  HV attracts a lot of attention by making an exclusive Wii game specifically for the hardcore audience.  Every third party gives us junk but not these guys!  These guys are going to treat us right!  And then they run into the problem that they honestly don't have the chops to give us that great of a game.  And now here they are, years later, making the exact sort of **** that The Conduit was the counter to.  HV is now just like everyone else making casual focused bullshit for the Wii.  They tried to be hip, couldn't do it, and are now back to being openly square.

To be fair, they're also still making Conduit 2, which has gotten a lot of good press and is shaping up to be a big improvement on the original, as well as both versions of The Grinder, which sounds promising. They do stuff like this to pay the bills and give the funding to work on the "real" games.
