Title: XBOX 360 Controller (wired) with xpadder v5.3
Post by: fow on December 27, 2010, 08:48:45 PM
Working on making the switch to Windows 7 on my (older) laptop netted the requirement to get a gamepad to work. My gge909 Game Masters controller does not (since I cannot find the CD and the company that makes them is gone) so I had to look elsewhere.
I bought a XBOX 360 wired controller and, unfortunately, it does not have any keyboard mapping software by default. This is a big bummer as I need it for a game that does not support gamepads (World of Warcraft).
I found xpadder:
http://xpadder.com/ (http://xpadder.com/) Unfortunately, again, the latest 5.4 is a pay version ($10). I looked and looked and found this:
http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Xpadder-Download-45445.html (http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Xpadder-Download-45445.html) Freeware version 5.3.
Running the application in Vista SP2 compatibility mode (without it, an undetected version dialog is displayed and force quit) resulted in the ability to map key presses to button presses (left triggers) on the gamepad. Results? Works great for my twisted purposes (controlling my second WoW account).
Hope this helps someone.

Does Joy2Key work in Windows 7? I have never tried it since I never had the need for it.
