Title: Mafia XLVII: Hollywood. Day 3.
Post by: Khushrenada on October 27, 2010, 02:45:19 AM
Sorry. Keep getting pulled away to do other things. So, won't post the headlines right now. Do that tomorrow morning.
Not that it matters if the day is up and running since everyone is playing 2 hours before the deadline. Tsk, tsk.
VARIETY HEADLINES
Master of Disguise Can't Fool Death By Samuel Gerard
Sundoulos, the man of a thousand faces, has died today. He was 57. He died yesterday evening while auditioning for the Gundam Wing movies. He was singing a song with plenty of high notes. However, when attempting to sustain a high note at the end of the song, Sundoulos reached a bit too hard and caused his diaphram to explode. From there, the results only got messier. His death comes as a huge blow to the mafia, I mean Broadway. Sundoulos earned the nickname the man of a thousand faces with his ability to take on numerous roles and be unrecognizable from one to the next. A famous story regarding this ability comes in 1982 when Sundoulos was sought after for his involvement in the great Sony Pictures sex scandal. Reporters were trying to find Sundoulos for a statement but were never able to catch him when he went to and from the studios. Sundoulos would were a different disguise each time and walk right past them. Regarding the tragic news, Khushrenada Studios had this to say: (story continued on A3)
Gossip Column Headlines
Jeff Bridges interested in Gundam Wing? Only if I'm the villian, says actor.
Fresh off his Oscar win, Jeff Bridges is rumored to be auditioning for the part of the main villain in the new Gundam movie. When questioned why, the only answer was, "It's always more fun being the bad guy!" Executives at Khushrenada Studios are remaining tight-lipped as to whether or not Jeff Bridges has been cast on to the production.
MGM forced to rewrite "Let's Look At Breasts" to "Winter Jackets Look Nice" after battle with the Motion Picture Production Code Office.
Columbia Pictures greenlights "Jobless", a film that gathers together the biggest former child tap dancing stars of the early days in Hollywood.

Announcements:
Sundoulos - The Man of a Thousand Faces (killed by vote)
Let's make the deadline, oh I don't know, Midnight EST again. Sounds good.
You will get your updated point totals in the morning again.
Good night.
EDIT:
Point Awards.
After mulling things over, I've decided to award the following points.
Rollplay Points
Apdude - 1. A good continued play of the Dude. Nickmitch - 1. I don't know who T.I. is. I looked him up. I don't know if this good impersonation or not but at least he's trying to include something with every post. Shaymin - 1. This one is subtle. Very subtle. But he actually included a couple Jim Carrey lines in his post so I went with it.
About the only other person who had a bit of roleplay was noname2200 but if he's dissapointed, he needn't be as we reveal the:
Gamplay Points
Noname2200 - 2. Two very good posts on page 2 to some of the questions going on. I liked the thinking on display. Stratos - 1. This one is harder to specify. It'd be a nice if there was a specific post I could point to but I didn't think there was one their own that was a slamdunk. However, when combining all of Stratos posts for the day, you could definitely see some good gameplay and statements at work.
As for the vote-out points, Sundoulos was worth 13 points, 4 people voted for him, so that is a nice bonus of 3 points for all those players with the remaining point going to today's victim so there will be an 11 point pot for today's vote.
Updated point messages on their way.

OK, time to rally guys. I'm the Fan Favorite and now that the vote altering mafia are taken out I shouldn't have any fear of the vote turning against me.
Vote Nickmitch. Should be pretty obvious why. He's never active this early in a mafia game and he deliberately tried to disrupt the saving of Toru last night.

Now I'm missing my Creedence tapes, and uh... my briefcase with some papers in it, uh, you know, uh, my papers, my business papers.
Perhaps TI took the tapes to sample from. Vote Nickmitch for now.
How ya gonna keep 'em down on the farm once they've seen Karl Hungus (Stratos).

I don't remember removing my vote... That's really strange. I do remember than I didn't have the option to Edit it, just remove. I may have accidentately hit remove instead. If I did, I apologize. Stupid sunlight...
I wanted to change it to Sundulos, but too late I guess. ;)
Vote Nickmitch

I thought users couldn't delete their posts. Is it different in the mafia boards?

I don't know. I'm a lifetime mod so I've always got the remove option. Quick survey!
Where it says quote on a user's post, who also has a command saying remove?

The Mafia forum is the only forum where a user can delete their own posts. I've no idea why this is the case, and I'm kind of surprised Khushrenada wasn't aware of it since I figured he'd know why the forum was set up that way.
The delete button is in the spot that the modify button normally occupies, so I can see someone in haste clicking on it without realizing which button it is.

And I can attest to do that. As well, since I can modify anyone's post in the forum, I have accidentally typed in messages in other people's posts thinking I had hit the quote button.
Anyhoo, I didn't set-up this forum. I think Pale did. Or maybe it was Megabyte. So, I'm not sure why things are the way they are.

Just a quick note. I'll be gone in about an hour and won't be back until close to the end of voting. So, if there is anything you need to ask or request, plan ahead.

Hey! Look at that. I actually posted the story up there. Actually, it's not really much of a story now that I think about it. But still! It doesn't happen to often where I stay caught up with the story posting. Good for me.

If the mafia did place a hit that my power blocked I have no knowledge of it. I just sent a PM to Khush asking if there are any details about it he can reveal. It could have been that only one person sent in a hit and they were lynched so no hit occurred.

What can I say about mafia hits? This: If there was a mafia hit, it would have been reported, successful or unsuccessfully. That should clear things up, I hope.

So thats what the "lets look at breasts" headline was about... I'm gonna need a couple white russians and think this over...
Oh and I found my Creedence tapes so Un-Vote Nickmitch

Hey Bridges, you were good kid. Real good. But as long as I'm around, you're always be second best, see?
As for Nickmitch... you got 17.5% in T-Bills amortized over the fiscal year, and 8% in stocks and bonds. Carry the nine, divide by the gross national product. Fortunately, funeral bouquets are tax deductible!

Look, let me explain something to you. I'm not Mr. Bridges. I'm the Dude. That or His Dudeness... Duder... or El Duderino, if, you know, you're not into the whole brevity thing.

I'm going to play devils advocate (<-- wasn't that a keanu reeves movie?) for a moment...
Nickmitch was active last night but the mafia chose not to kill anyone or was not active... Seems strange to me. I would think a more likey person would be somebody who didn't post last night... perhaps stevey?

So thats what the "lets look at breasts" headline was about...
Actually, that headline was just a joke headline about nothing really. It was just a joke about how the Production Code forced a movie called "Let's Look at Breasts" to "Winter Jackets are Nice" because the Code made them completely cover up the "offending" images thus completely changing the intent of the movie.
If you've ever seen The Aviator, there is a scene where Howard Hughes (Leonardo DiCaprio) has to defend the gratituitous shots of an actress breasts to the Production Code. It was just a joke based off that idea but now that I've gone through this lengthy explaination, it's lost any small amount of funny it may have had. Beating a horse to death for the win!
